Equity Transportation Tamara Ripped off and treated horrible @ Equity Transport in Walker, MI. Internet
It all started my first pay week with Equity. The girls in the front office really butchered my pay. They said I owed them $350. my first check. My girlfriend, being a better arguer then me, finally made it make sense to them. They gave me $250 my first check and added the rest to my next check. 3 weeks go by and I'm paying bills and eating by the skin of my teeth. I had to get my phone shut off due to the lack of exp. in payroll. I got a real cheap pre-paid phone, which helped! So finally, I'm getting comfortable and I had a family member pass away. My dispatcher gave me the ok to take off work and stay at home with my small kids. Friday rolls around, the day of my first big check! I look at my account and it was over drawn by $14.00. The first thing I did was call my dispatcher. He told me that he did not have a clue why, and for me to call Tamara. I did, the conversation went just like this: I put a hold on your check for vanishing with our truck and and if you don't have it back here by 8pm, Im reporting it stolen! But its not stolen, its safe and I need to get paid. If the truck isn't back here by 8pm, its stolen...click. She hung up on me. I had to pack my kids up and drive a semi to Grand Rapids with no money! I got it there by 8pm and Aaron told me he would call her to release the hold. Its been 6 days now and bills keep coming out of my over drawn account. It is also illegal to put a hold on someones check as far as I know! I need legal advice about taking action. I went to this company to make money and lost my butt off! Look at my DAC report too. Im a great employee and this is not how I expected to be treated! Shame on Equity and some of the bad ones running that place! Do NOT work here!!

I have driven for Equity for 2 of my 20 year career and I gotta say 9 out of 10 times I hear a driver complaining about them I have learned to consider the source, I'm not going to say payroll does not screw up from time to time but I will say when they do they have always been great about getting it straightened out. I personally think this is one of the most driver friendly companies I have ever driven for and would reccomend them to any one. As far as your remarks about Tamara goes I have always thought her to be one of the most fair HR reps I have ever saw at a trucking company.

Why are these reports all similar? Your reputation is garbage and mine was spotless until I worked at Equity. Can you explain why? How unprofessional to make up lies and tell them to people that work there! Illegal? Proof in a Facebook message from another employee. I have texts, bills, receipts, dated faxes and more that will show people how you conduct business. As of right now it's he said, she said. Tamara, let me ask, what kind of cigarette butts were in the tank and how would you know to look in there? Before I turned in my key I took pictures of the truck I had been assigned. A clever liar would make up such a lie since nobody would ever think to photograph the inside of a fuel tank. There must be a work order in the shop or an incident report backing your claim up? Instead of parting ways after screwing me out of pay you took drastic measures to ruin my reputation and my career. Is any of this legal? I think not. These are the things that happen when you let a person have authority and they go about their job like an ex girlfriend with a grudge. I've made money since, I've caught up from this financially but the slander has caused me to lose a friend, give me a bad rap and severely tarnish my dac. All because some pudgy small minded girl at a desk could cover her own butt and keep her pockets and other big wigs at equity lined with green. Anyone reading this should really look into this before passing judgement. I have no motive other then to see this does not happen to anybody else. I consider myself lucky to have bounced back.

What his ex-employee failed to tell you are the reasons they were terminated.
They took the truck without permission multiple times and deadheaded home.
They were written up twice for their poor communication skills.
They refused loads or went MIA for several days each week inaddition to the home time he needed home spur of the moment. He also failed to tell you that for both emergencies he was allowed to dead head home and we recovered the load for him, no questions asked. We also rearranged loads on several occasions to get him home spur of the moment.
His pay was never messed up on our mistake. He failed to turn in paperwork for weeks, and thus was not paid for those loads. He also took several loans from Equity, and woud then be upset that we would expect him to pay the loans back.
If you were only available for work half of the week and declided most loads while you were 'working' would you expect to not be 'starving'?? If you work part-time you get paid like a part-time employee. Also, if a person does not monitor their checking account and pay out money that they do not have, is not the responcibility of the company that is giving them work they are refusing to do.
After a week of being loads to pay him to return the truck to us he stopped communicating and began using the truck as a personal vehicle. At that point he was told that if he failed to return the truck within the day we would have no choice but to report it stolen. We also tried to recover the truck several times but because it was being used as a personal vehicle it kept moving locations before we could get to it.
Upon the return of our truck there was extensive internal damage (ie cigarette butts in the gas tanks). He signed a paper with us agreeing pay for the damage. That cost was taken from his final check.
