Erin Stoody aka Kiwi-flowers ripoff unreliable costume maker Internet
11-15-04 I entered a request to have to costumes made for my boyfriend and I for an anime convention from from Full Metal Alchemist. I received an email response from Erin Stoody, that April 1 would not be doable, but July 2004 (Anime Expo in Anaheim, California) would be fine.
11-17-04 I received mail stating that the Roy costume would be $340 (uniform and gloves) and Riza, $320 (uniform). At this point I was happy to have found Kiwi-flowers as she seem very reliable and swift to answer my emails.
4-23-05 She gets the total that I had sent her completely wrong, stating that I still owed $410, when I had actually paid that amount.
6-19-05 Ms. Stoody states that she sewed one of the costumes incorrectly, and 6-22, states that she'll have it shipped by that Saturday. Needless to say I received an email on 10-13, that she had lost my address.
I had paid in full $660 by 11-01-05 but Erin Stoody had failed to tell me she had changed her addresss. I waited 3 more weeks so that my money order could be fowarded to her new address, which she received a few days before 11-21.
After no response between 11-21-05 till 1-11-06, I threated to tell of her bad business behavior to other cosplayers and warn them. I finally receive mail stating she has the costumes finished since Oct 2005. She offered http://www.kiwiflowers.net/other/progress/rr1.jpg to give me peace of mind.
It's now Feburary 18, 2006, and I still do not have either costume, though I had paid in full, the $660 in November 2005. I have still not been given a response as to why I haven't received my costumes and need them both by April 2006, though this doesn't seem likely.

After giving up on waiting, I sent an last night stating that I wanted a full refund, and wanted to finish this once and for all. Lord and behold, I got an answer:

I understand that miscommunications can cause problems as well, and not to put too fine a point on it, but I have never missed a deadline that was met by both ends of the deal. Because of my new job, I can only go to the post office on Saturdays now, which means the hours
between 10 and 3 pm. This was the reason for the inital delay. Now, it's because I don't have a current address for you. The one I have seems to be incorrect (I don't have a hard copy of it anywhere, just what I've copied down). The one you have for me is still my current home address. If I can get yours, I will pay my former assistant to come pick it up and ship it out on Monday, since I won't be able to do it myself in probably just as long.

I sent another email stating that I want a refund. This would be 3rd time I have to send her my address, and NO I HAVE NOT changed my address. Not to mention, I had comissioned this piece for April 1, 2005, then July 2005, then Oct 2005. Am I the only one that seems to be confused about NOT setting up a date?

Actually, the one who ripped me off lives in Seattle. If she lived in Hawaii too, that'd be so much easier.
It's 2-19-06 and I still haven't gotten a response. I also posted on the better business bureau for Washington & at cosplay.com So hopefully soon I'll get a reply.

Maya, You Should make another posting under alterations, That way alot more people will see it. I don't know why someone on a set of small islands would screw a customer around like that. I believe you can tell just a few people, and the word would spread like a plague.
