Found 2 months of fraudulent unauthorized charges to my Verizon land line bill for services called "Nationwide Assist Electronic Fax" monthly fee being billed
by a company called ESBI a company claiming to be a clearinghouse agent for Nationwide Assist.. I called
Verizon first to find out what this charge was. I was told this charge was "not from them" but unknown to me. I made the Verizon rep stay on the line while we contacted ESBI. The ESBI rep claimed that I had authorized a request for an on-line internet fax service via email request. When I told her that was untrue and asked for the form and the email address which was supposedly used to authorize this request.
She told me it had been requested on an unknown email address (not mine) using a "hushmail.com" address to request the internet fax service. When I told her that all of this was fraudulent. Upon my request and maybe because of the fact that I had a Verizon agent on the line... she said she would send a refund on my next Verizon bill. No concern or apology was made regarding the fact that they process or even make these fraudulent requests. I do not know if I'll ever get a refund.
I have sent this issue to the California State Attorney's Office.
