I was shocked when I got my Qwest bill this month and had a $19.95 charge from a company called ESBI. I called on 11/29/06 and the guy I spoke with said that the other person on our account ordered voice mail services.

I know that is wrong since my husband doesn't like to even talk on the phone. The "customer service specialist" I spoke with said it all had to do with a survey my husband took on line. He (my husband) can't remember what it was for but knows for sure that when he got to the page where it said (for this "free" survey) that he would need to sign up for a service he closed the screen. Since then we've received numerous calls about "college finders". Just don't answer those surveys! They are just marketing tools.

When my "Customer Service" guy told me this I said well thank you soo much but I will not be charged for this service. I haven't yet but will send letters to the Attorney General in Colorado and New Jersey about this. I have already filed a complaint with the FTC. In 2002 ESBI had to settle claims for biling services not requested. To see more about that go to the FTC website.

Thanks for all the info. I would encourage anyone who has had this happen to file a complaint with the FTC so it shows a pattern of abuse.
