After being with AT&T for over 12 years, I was suddenly charged with services I didn't order or authorize from UnitedTel.  I called UnitedTel and was told that I would not be charged any more and that they would credit my account.  Next month's bill still had charges from them.  I called again.  Got the same promise.  Called AT&T to ask them why they allowed such unauthorized practices and if there was a way to prevent this in the future.  They said I could get 3rd party billing block.  I did.  That's when all hell broke loose.

Because of UnitedTel's scam, and the fact that AT&T does not check these things, I got my internet and mobile phone both disconnected (they're from AT&T companies that AT&T considers 3rd party even tho they share the same name).

I called UnitedTel 3 times and talked to a supervisor who finally swore to me that they would no longer bill me and that I would be credited.  They gave me the credit, but AT&T really messed up our internet connection that we've had since 1997.

I filed a complaint with CPUC.  The attorneys for UnitedTel responded to CPUC with a copy of the web page that supposedly proved that I had ordered from them on line.  There were so many things wrong with that "proof" page that I called CPUC and they advised me to pursue this with the FCC as this was an internet complaint.

Now my mother who is 83 years old has just been hit by this UnitedTel scam.  Others I have talked to have also been hit.  I now believe that AT&T is fully cooperating with this company and its scam or maybe AT&T has been hacked by this company.  Too many people are getting hit by this.

Thanks for the offer of help, however, after many calls to UnitedTel, I finally got my refund.  The issue is not the money so much as it is that AT&T allows/cooperates with 3rd party billing without customer verification.  That gives companies like UnitedTel a blank check to cram whatever they want on to a customer's phone bill and reap huge amounts of money.  ALSO, since AT&T considers their own internet and cellular service branches as 3rd party billers, if you get 3rd party billing block, you lose your internet and cell service.  Keep checking your phone bills, folks.
