Complaint Review: Europcar Mexico

Europcar at Los Cabos Internation Airport, San Jose, Mexico is dishonest.

We needed a mini van for two weeks. After checking at several rental booths in the airport we selected Europcar. The quoted $845 including basic liability insurance. Others were $1,200-$1,500 for the same thing.

We went with luggage and the confirmation ticket to pick up the car. Instead of $845 as promised, they said it would be $975. Several people got involved. When disagreed and refused to pay the upcharge, I was told the manager said not to let the car go for less than $1,200.

There were two other customers with similar problems. Two of us went next door to Advantage Rent-a-Car where we got a fair price and friendly, courteous service.
