These guys auction a lot of their cars on eBay to people out of state. I purchased a vehicle for my kid to go to college. I transferred $9000 out my bank account to their company account at my bank on a car I was assured had no major problems. As soon as I received it off transport truck a few days later, engine light was on & won't pass any state emissions. I check the oil... black sludge!

I had my mechanic flush engine twice almost $300 and replace camshaft/crankshaft magnets another $286 ...needs crankshaft balancer over $3500 to pull the engine out and do the work. I called them a few days later to ask why they sent the vehicle with the engine light on and not inform me. He replied that he had his mechanic take care of the problem by dropping the pan and draining the oil, but there was no engine light on when it was shipped out. The co-owner agreed to help pay $500 towards the new oil flushes I was having done. He wanted to mail a check, I refused. I told him he could go online and use MoneyGram, he said they were a legit business and they didn't work that way. He wanted to send through Paypal, I opened an account. I checked the account later and nothing so I happened to check my text messages he said he'd send it the next day.

I felt he wanted me to work on his time schedule when at the time I was just tired of all the lies and excuses, so I sent him an email to let him know I'd see him in court.

I left him a bad review on eBay where I saw his ad, he left a message I hurt his feelings and I was out of line for threating to sue his company. That he was with his mom at the doctor's office the day we agreed for him to send the money...that's why he left me a text he'd transfer it the next day. Is it just me, or do we all carry around smartphones which allow us to handle small transactions like that??? I guess he called eBay on me because they removed my bad review without following up with me.

Filing a complaint with Attorney General's office & Financial regulations office in Florida with plans to file a lawsuit for repairs or return the vehicle for a refund. They have good reviews..they just decided to mislead me and go bad for profit. After some extensive investigating with a friend we found these jerks tried to sell the same car for $6,000 2 mos earlier...what does that tell you 2009 Mercedes E Class...really??? These guys found out back in Feb. this car had major engine problems that's why they were only asking $6000 back then to offset the cost of repairs. Check the description on the first link listed on eBay, this is why I bought the car, the second link is what we found after purchasing the car.

This link is what they tried to sell it for in Feb 2018, I printed the page out for my lawsuit

Mr. McCarthy,

All this over $500.00, that is crazy.  Yes, Steve Sepic is an independent contractor who does sales and marketing work.  Jonathan owns 7 businesses and is an absentee owner.  European's reputation speaks for itself with a 100% positive feedback everywhere (unheard of in the automobile industry).  European specializes in high end classic cars and of course the least expensive car sold (yours) has the issue.  We wish you had contacted the company directly with the issue instead of steve.  Unfortuantely you had already filed numerous negative reviews and reports and we only found out this way.  After all of this you still never called us.  We would have had it worked out in a matter of minutes.  You have managed to be the first negative reviews and reports in 10 years. We sell 40-50 cars/month and although we are not perfect, we do our best to be close to it.  We would not normally even acknoledge this, and should be upset with what you have done, but we wanted to thank you. Thank you for being the first one to bash us around the net.

My response after Jonathan Horn replied to BBB from European Classic Inc.

Question??? If a business feels they're in the right about their business practices why would you lie to the Better Business Bureau about your partner not being associated with your company? As soon as Mr. Jonathan Horn responded to my complaint to the BBB he took down the photos of himself and Mr. Steve Sepic on their website supposedly a contractor for European Classics Inc.

Fortunately a few days earlier I copied the page and put it in my file that I was compiling as evidence for the courts to show what roles they played in the company. If your not honest about the small things you won't honest about anything.

Below is my reply back to Mr. Horn through the BBB:   Complaint: 12815281 I am rejecting this response because: Mr. Horn I see you distort the truth as much as your business partner, friend, colleague or whatever you'd like to refer Mr. Sepic as. When I spoke with you about how you wanted the monies transferred within our bank you referred to him as your business partner. With me having negative ads posted about your company I don't see how you refer to this as strong-arming? I've not spoken to you are your partner Mr. Sepic about taking down any ads for money? Another lie and you wonder why I have little trust and never gave him 24hrs to send funds toward the repairs. You do know that in some states that As-is agreement would be null and void due to the license you hold and the misleading practices you allow Mr. Sepic to perform under your name? We've done our homework to see that he's not listed on any business licenses or tax work in the company's name...but still, you list him as your partner, not a salesman, contractor or whatever you prefer.

Furthermore, I don't consider me wanting you guys to do the right thing as some type of extortion. Mr. Sepic also knew the car was being placed in different shops because of their level of expertise, so, that $500 was just toward the engine flushes and sensors installed. When all of that didn't clear the engine light they dug further in the engine to find the balancer needed to be replaced and that calls for the engine to be pulled to perform the work. If you had personally called me like you did when you asked me to transfer that $9000 I would've worked with you with half the cost. In closing, I feel we both share this burden... Mr. Sepic lies that the vehicle had no problems when asked and my stupidity not having an outside mechanic examine the car. Regards,

Athony

Perry Mason!

Hahaha, you are so right...I can't get mad at you for how you just berated me. In fact, I'm pretty sure I needed it as old as I am. I got so wrapped up in running my business I didn't use the common sense that helps me keep my business. I thought I did the minimum things to protect myself by pulling both auto history reports, reading customer reviews...BBB report and speaking with these scumbags for several days as to why I was purchasing the vehicle. The company I was going to hire to go observe the vehicle wasn't going to be able to make it out there for several days, something I should've waited for.

So yeah I had it coming, but it doesn't make what they did right. For the additional $9000 I'm about to spend for my kid a reliable car I could've got gotten a new one. But to give you a follow up the BBB did contact these guys about my complaint...They replied with lies that the co-owner listed on their website is merely a contractor and doesn't really work for the company and how much it's my fault for not taking the time to fly down and see the vehicle and how I could've given the guy 24 hrs to give me $500 for the repairs before I started posting negative reviews about them. As much as it'll inconvenience and cost me additional money I'll see them in court because I can't let a $9000 scam go unpunished.

Below is their reply to BBB.

This is the first we are hearing about this issue at European Classics. Mr. Sepic is an independent contractor for European Classics that helps us with marketing and sales. I just consulted with Mr. Sepic and he said he was going to work with you and see what was wrong, but you submitted a bad review the morning after you asked him, not even giving him 24 hours to look into the issue that was in question. This car was sold as-is with no warranty (the signed agreement is attached). No one had to do anything, but Mr Sepic was willing to initially help. Mr. Anthony had the right to physically come see the vehicle but chose not to. Mr. Anthony also had the right to have the vehicle inspected by a mechanic of his choice, but chose not to. Both of these clauses are also signed in the agreement.

How the asking amount went from $500 to $3500.00, I have no clue. You can't blackmail us by submitting negative reviews everywhere in order to get money, telling us you will remove them if we pay you. That is not ethical. We are good people, but will not be strong armed.

Once gain, this vehicle was purchased as-is with no warranty with all faults as expressly agreed upon and signed by Mr. Anthony

Complete Lack of COMMON SENSE!

You stated you bought this thing for your son. One would think, it would be obvious you would want a RELIABLE used car, something which might provide him with safe and trouble free operation. Of course...that's the correct thing to want! With those goals in mind, here's the "wisdom" you applied in buying this car. You send your money off to somebody you don't know to buy a USED car you've NEVER seen, you've NEVER inspected, you've NEVER test driven, you've NEVER checked for glass damage, you've NEVER checked for brake operation, you've NEVER heard the engine run, you've NEVER felt the transmission shift, you've NEVER checked for body damage!

To pick out a good, reliable, trouble free car for your son, you rely on pictures on a computer screen, words on a screen and somebody's voice on the other end of a phone! You now come here to cry and whine because the car is junk! Should people be honest? Of course they should but anybody with half a brain knows that's not always the case especially when it comes to used cars! You threw COMMON SENSE out the window all because of some dumb, stupid car. You could have bought a car locally, had it checked out by your own mechanic before buying it so that your son received a decent car. Instead, you volunteered yourself for this! Get yourself a keeper!
