Last september I received a call from a company by the name of Everest Consumer Services. They offered a unsecured credit card with the credit limit of $2,400 and since I am trying to build my credit, I signed up for it. I was billed through my account. I have been following up on this but have been told that the card was on it's way. Yesterday I called again and was told that 1) I was not going to receive a credit card, only applications and that is what I was paying for. 2) That they were only an answering service and cannot help me with my request for a refund, to call in 2 weeks. I was totally misled by them since I was told that the amount was for a one time service charge. They claimed to be connected to credit bureaus and would report to them monthly on the account history of the credit card I was getting. I then did some research on the internet and found the your link ripoffreport.com/BBB-Better-Business-Bureau/Everest-Consumer-Ser/everest-consumer-services-rip-M97EE.htm It turns out that I am not the only one who has had this experience.

The site advises people to speak to their bank and ask for assistance to file a dispute in accordance to Federal regulation E. So I wrote an email to my bank and they were very helpful. They gave me a number to call and the banker was very sympathetic. They have filed a claim and will be investigating this matter. I was given a reference number and will either have my money back in 5 days or will receive a call from the bank to update me on the status. Although there is no gurarantee, it is a good feeling to know that there are people who try to help you when you get scammed this way
