Complaint Review: Everest University

My daughter was interested in further her education in 2012 so we went to Everest University in Largo,Fl. We met with the staff and went spoke with a gentleman regarding financial aide. The man had my daughter fill out her information and asked if I was interested in co-signing the loan. I explained that I was going through a divorce and my credit was not good enough. The man insisted that I should try and if it doesn't go through then no harm.

Well, he came back about 20 minutes later and said,"Yeah, it didn't go through but at least we know". So I had let the thought go until I went to check my credit and was blown away as it was showing that I "owe" a student loan. I immediately called Everest University and explained to Admin that this bill should not be on my credit because I was told that my credit was not good enough for it to go through.

The admin pretty much told me that I was a liar and that "his" employees would not tell someone that a loan didn't go through if they knew that it had. He told me that I owe it and I need to pay it. I was told by the man in financial aide that my credit was not good enough to co-sign for it  and now I am getting billed?

I am trying to build up my credit and I do not need this. I have called and asked to get this resolved and that the man my daughter and I spoke with flat out lied to me but it is falling on deaf ears. Can someone please help me. I am at my wits end and I don't what to do. Please help me.
