I was entering college for my second year and I needed a laptop to upgrade from my 96 Compaq. I just needed something to take notes during class and surf the internet from time to time to check my messages. I went to a store and found an Everex Stepnote for pretty cheap. I thought it was a good deal and it had Windows Vista on it (right around when it first came out and before anyone knew how horrible that would turn out). I was good for around 4 months into the semester. I noticed the battery life dwindled quite rapidly. It got to the point to where it would last 30 minutes and I would miss out on the last 20 minutes of notes. So I took my chord, no big deal.

One day I start it up and it says that the system disk wasn't found. This thing is like 5 months old. Well thank goodness for that great 1 year limited warranty (sarcasm). I called a guy up and he walked me through some stuff. He came to the point to where he told me I would have to send it to the company to see if someone could fix it. So I paid for UPS to send the thing to California. I didn't receive a phone call letting me know if they got it or not and I waited around 3 weeks. I called someone up and they said they didn't know where my laptop was. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I had my assignments, research papers, notes, stories, all that good stuff on there and it has been gone for three weeks to God knows where.

After a month, I receive the thing and I'm relieved to find everything back the way I had it. But not one person called to see if I received it or anything. Thanks for the follow up, I've had better customer service from a guy who sold me a guitar at Guitar Center (who actually sent me a letter asking me how things were going about 2 weeks after my purchase).

A few months later and I found a new problem. Not only did it exist outside my 1 year warranty but the store that sold me the thing went out of business. The CD/DVD drive did not work at all. It just up and stopped working. I couldn't play a game, audio cd, dvd, or saved file disk. Nothing. I call up the place again and they had to go through and redo all my information. Then the guy said he couldn't help me because I was outside the 1 year warranty.

I could've bought a new external drive, but I'm a college student. After that thing went down the drain another problem occurred. The laptop only connects to wi-fi for brief periods of time and then disconnects and has to reconnect again. I have to hurry and fly through the startup and web addresses to get my messages before the connection fails.

I'm basically just wanting to let anyone know not to buy from this company. The product is extremely horrible and I regret this purchase everyday. It's sad to say that my 96 Compaq moves faster then this thing and I could get more done on it. Hope this helps whoever.
