Everhome Mortgage EverBank Modification Scam Jacksonville, Florida
In June 2009, I missed a payment and called the company to make arrangements to pay two payments the next month.
The person I talked to said that I would probably qualify for a modification and that it would be easier to go that route. He took my financial information (took it down wrong) over the phone and said that yes, I qualified for a modification and that my new payments would be $603 a month. (from $708)
He sent me all the documents instructing me to sign them and send them back with a check for $603, which I did.
A few weeks later, I received the check back with an explanation that I did not qualify after all. I called to see why not and was told that my income was such that I could afford the payments.
Since I was down three payments now I asked what I could do to get caught up and was told that my best option was to sign a forbearance agreement for six months and that at the end of that time they would work out a repayment plan for me to get caught up.
At the end of six months I was told that I did not qualify for a repayment plan, and that if I submitted my financial documents again they would once again consider me for a modification. During this time I was sent late notices every month, when I called about them, I was told to ignore the notices they had to by law send them to me and that everything was okay. I contacted a government a loan counselor and submitted the forms, in answer I got a foreclosure notice and a sheriff's sale date.
When I called they told me to ignore this that they would not foreclose if I am actively working with them. I still have not heard anything from them about the new modification, when I call, they say it is still being looked at and that they are behind in their paperwork.
