Complaint Review: EVoice

EVoice Draining Bank Accoount - Charging me per minute if a caller lets the phone ring on their end and hangs up. If call doesn't even appear on my cell phone EVOICE still charges. Internet

I have two EVOICE accounts - both business related. I have not have any problems with my 877 # for my Toronto office, however my 877 # in Peterborough Ontario was over charged $79.00 on my agreed $9.95 service through EVOICE that allows me 300 mins.

After checking my credit card statement, I contacted EVOICE last night (Sunday April 14 2013) and spoke to a live personnel who let me know that I would have to contact someone in billing on Monday.

The guy I spoke to on Sunday was not able to answer any questions, I did give him a fair amount of heat and he dealt with it quite well. Most important information he provided to me:
- If someone calls and hangs up, even after literally 2 seconds you are charged a minute
- If a call is made to your number and it doesn't even connect to your phone, it is still charged.

He looked over my file and couldn't do much.

I called and spoke to someone today (Monday) and she had her back up almost immediately. She indicated that she was hearing what I was saying and assumed that maybe I was getting a lot of crank calls.

I looked at my invoice online and it says I received 22 calls in one billing session, and I was charged for over 1644 seconds (with again, THEY ARE CHARGING YOU PER MINUTE) for the month.

Keep in mind, I have two numbers that get sent to my phone so I NEVER pick up a call because I don't know what company they are calling for.

If you are an evoice user then you know that every message that is left gets texted to your phone and it tells you how long the message was.

With the 22 calls, the voice to text is less then 22 mins - that I have received on my end - which is only 22 mins of my 300 minute package.

So apparently with all of these miscellaneous numbers that are calling me, and the callers aren't even on long enough for the call to get to my phone I "have used" and been charged for 1644 seconds (again you are charged this in minutes)

So, not only did I "use" the remainder of my 278 minutes of my package - but "I" also was charged for an additional 1396 seconds (again, charged per minute) even though only 22 calls came through and only a handful left messages.

I JUST received this number from Evoice only a month ago. Before hand I was using my cell phone alone and I was maybe getting 20 calls a month, tops.

As it seems, EVOICE gave me a number that is compromised (this may be why I am getting the high amount of calls on their end) and not on my end.

Should I have to pay for them giving me a compromised number? HELL NO!

I googled my evoice number online and no real businesses comes up that once used it but it seems like it was a telemarker at one point, and it was put on a site where people report unwanted calls from.
