ExamCollection is a repository of sample exams which are contributed by the site's users. They also offer a a "PREMIUM" subscription to access "Premium" files that are supposedly of higher quality.

I was interested in one specific exam (Microsoft 70-488). I took a monthly subscription at $49 and downloaded the file. Even though the file was comprehensive (contained a large number of sample questions), the answers seemed random and without explanation. The "community" files were actually better in this respect. It would have been better suited as training material if it had been delivered without answers, rather than wrong answers.

When I wanted to cancel the subscription, I learned that I had to pay a fee of $59 to cancel before "the minimum period" of 3 months. However, ABSOLUTELY NO MENTION OF THIS HAD BEEN MADE during the ordering process, NOT EVEN IN THE SMALL PRINT OF THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS (they mention a POSSIBLE minimum period but it remains unspecified).

I'm no lawyer, but my intuition tells me that this is clearly illegal and I could sue them.

I wrote them an email to give them the opportunity to reimburse me before writing this report. They declined, referring to their FAQ that contains the "minimum period" clause. However, no reference to the FAQ is made in the ordering process, and like I said the fine print does not state it, so this is irrelevant.

In addition to the rip-off, they make you go through a painful cancellation procedure where you have to download a form, fill it out by hand, check a box to confirm that you've read the fine print (which is pointless because it doesn't even contain the offending clause), sign it, scan and upload it. I was left wondering how to get to the next step until I figured out that I had to click on the "cancel" button again after each step. Only after uploading the form did I get the "good news" that I had to pay an extra $59, and only after clicking on "cancel" AGAIN after may payment was confirmed that the cancellation actually went into effect.
