Exec People Search, Executive People Search BEWARE! Fake staffing company asks "employees" to complete credit check -- linked to COUNTLESS other scams! Cleveland, Ohio
While browsing jobs on a well respected site, I came across a posting from Executive People Search. Job sounded great -- I applied. Day or two later I got an email back saying they were interested and asked me to complete an online questionnaire as the next step in the process.
Before even going to the questionnaire, I checked out their website. (http://execpeoplesearch.com/index.php) Pretty bare bones, but seemed professional enough. I also did some quick Googling to make sure they weren't associated with any scams. Nothing came up, so I proceeded.
Questions seemed innocent enough -- five adjectives to describe you, why you're the best person for the position, etc. After submitting the questionnaire, however, the next page asked me to complete a credit check to "verify my identity". RED FLAG! They ask you to use a certain credit checking site and email them back the results.
I exited immediately.
First of all, why would they be asking ME to complete the credit check. If it is part of their hiring process, shouldn't they have the capabilities themselves? Secondly, I'm smart enough to never give my SSN to anyone who I haven't verified.
Glad I didn't. I did a little more research. Turns out the domain was registered just days ago to an address in the Bahamas (see info below). Googling the same address results in COUNTLESS scams of all kinds. Check it out for yourself:
