Experian is irresponsible in keeping my credit files

My credit history is excellent. At the end of Dec. 2001, I applied for Discover student card and was rejected. Discover got my credit report from Experian, so I requested a copy of my credit report from Experian, too. My name was wrongly spelled on the report, and my American Express account in good standing was missing from the report. I requested investigation about this issue. Experian refused to investigate by saying that Am Ex may not report to them. How could my accounts' information be correctly filed with my name wrongly spelled?

It's true, not all of the companies that you have accounts with report to the three major CRA's. I think it's something to do with paying membership fees I'm not sure. As far as any wrong information, just send a copy of the credit report to Experian with the wrong information highlighted, let them know that you are disputing the informaiton, and send in copies of you identification to verify the false information i.e. a copy of your SS card.

As for the account not reported contact your account holder, and ask them if it should be reported. If the company does not report to experian than it's possible that maybe you could pay a fee to the company to report it if not then theres really nothing that you can do about it. Sorry

In Experian's report, my employer is "University of Madinine". Absurd!
