Experience Sales The Experience Door To Door Sales: Overpriced Children's Books Phoenix, Arizona
Similar to the posting dated 12/1/09, a young gentleman came to our door indicating he was "our neighbor". He said he was "going to Europe" for a college work abroad opportunity. He kept trying to push multiple book purchases but consistently avoided telling us the price of the books and even said our neighbor purchased 4 books. (We later learned this was completely untrue.)
He quoted us over $200 for 4 books and over $70 for 2. We finally settled on 1 and unfortunately paid $35 in cash. This occurred in early October and we were told we'd have the book by Christmas.
It's now 10 days before Christmas and not surprisingly, we have not received a book. The website looks like a homemade job and there are no customer service phone numbers only contact forms to complete. After a Google search, we stumbled upon this report and marveled at how similar our experience was to the prior post.
We only lost $35 but I hope to warn anyone else who might fall victim to the guilt of helping a kid on a college trip. He was very convincing...but don't fall for it!!!
