We purchased an Explorer cooker hood throught their on-line dealer, the naturalhome.com on September 15th 2002. We had to wait for the hood for 2 months instead of 3 weeks as was promised by the dealer.

The hood arrived in a middle of November. First, the hood is poorly built and is not worth the price ($700). Second, it was damaged, apparently during the shipping. We called Explorer (the manufacturer) directlly and told them that we would accept the hood if they give us 40% ($280) discount from the original price of $700 and an extended 3-year warranty on this hood. Explorer agreed to give us a check for $250 and a certificate of 3 years warranty. The dealer, naturalhome.com agreed to add additional $30 to the manufacturer's refund check. We installed the hood. Today is February 1st 2003; it's been 2.5 months since that negotiation and we only received $30 check from the dealer. I called Explorer several times and every time I was promised that "the refund check will be mailed tomorrow".

To summirize; we have been ripped off by this company having paid a full price for the damaged hood, which also is poorly built. Consumers, beware. Do not buy these hoods! I also saw them on a Universal Appliances.com.

WE ARE ANOTHER CONSUMER WHO HAS BEEN RIPPED OFF

We purchased the Italian Stainless Steel Condo package on Ebay for over $2,000. The shipment was "delayed" because they shipped the wrong fridge. The fridge we have now is broken and they won't return our phone calls or emails. The over the range microwave was shipped without it's mounting bracket which is standard to include.

The dishwasher has a broken moter and we had to rip up our newly installed floor to have our new broken machine repaired. The stove did not have American Voltage Wiring and we had to pay another $500+ to have the wiring from the basement to make the appliance work. This is the worst buying experience of my life. I just wish they'd fix my "new" fridge. Is that really too much to ask after all the above headaches?

UNFAIR REPORT

Firstly let me say the hood is made in Italy by Italian sheetmetal artisans and this is the first negative we have received on this item out of thousands that we have sold !

Secondly the hood was purchased from a dealer and not from Explorer. Therefore your sale contratc is with your dealer. You gave your money to your dealer, and so your money is with your dealer, not at Explorer ! Therefore your gripe is with the dealer as regards refunds. The only contract you have with Explorer is the warranty & we are only responsible for warranty service and or the shipment of replacement parts.

Thirdly the hood was shipped in new condition & insured and if it was damaged by the shipping company as you claim, then surely you need to claim the insured value from the guilty party, namely the shipping/freight company as they are the ones that damaged your hood !
