I was trying to follow up this morning on any information I could find on the status of a complaint filed with the California Attorney General's office against Explorer, when I ran across this site. Oh boy, do I wish I had read this before I bought a stove from these creeps!!

We had a gas stove , purchased through Natural Home. On the first attempt to use the oven..it blew up. Obviously, I called Explorer right away, and as will be no surprise..no word back for weeks. Eventually,I sent a certfied letter, which they did receive. I exchanged e-mails with Geoff Rael (one of the owners), who assured me that once the stove was back in their posession; I would receive a full refund.Stove was received by their warehouse (on their dime)...and then I could not get a phone call returned, never mind the money back.

More frustration followed...and eventually, we had all but given up on ever getting our money ($1500 plus shipping)back. This all happened between December 2003 (explosion time) and a year or so later.

About a year ago, I received a phione call out of the blue from the California Attorney Generals office..an Attorney named Janet or Janice. Anyway, she was calling because apparently alot of people had big problems with Explorer...and she said the AG's office was looking into it. I e-mailed her all the info I had, including the original e-mails promising a refund from Geoff Rael. Since then, unfortunately, my computer crashed, and I lost her contact information. Has anyone else heard anything about this? Does anyone know if any action has been taken against Explorer by the AG?

WE would love to know. It is truly unbelievable that these guys are still in business. Anybody have a contact at 60 Minutes?
