Made an appointment through a home show.  Salesman came to my home on a Monday - several things bothered me right from the start:  1) Salesperson immediately wanted to know what my "top $" was to spend  2) Even after measuring, and me asking 3 times what our square footage was, he skirted around an answer....finally saying there was approximately 650 SF (there is 434 SF - 2 square rooms & a hallway) 3)  Told me they only use very high quality, commercial grade, flooring - stuff left over that their "high end clients" paid double what we would pay 4) Would not give me a breakdown of the costs (explained that they just give you one price "so as not to confuse you) 5) Made a call to office to make sure they had what I picked in stock  6) received a call back about 15 minutes later to confirm our order, as they were almost "sold out"  7) Total bill for this amount of laminate was $7,312 - 8) he wanted $4,000 down  9) I told them we wanted to install in April - he wanted us to push to "immediate".  10)  Most importantly - the salesman never told me who manufactured the flooring, any of the specs of the product. or what the price per SF for the material was.....and NEVER went through the print on the back of the contract, especially the last paragraph telling you that you have the right to cancel this contract (which did call for a signature) - yet never mentioned

When my husband got home that night, we talked about all of this.  We had been looking for laminate and knew that approx. $6-7 SF would get us a good quality floor.  Their price came out to approx. $15 SF - for that we could have had real wood, gilded in gold.  Just having a very uneasy feeling about this company (and never having researched this company - bad on me) I decided to cancel the contract immediately.  I sent a fax at 11 pm that night, as soon as I put a "stop payment" on our check - making sure that I was well within my 72 hour cancellation per Arizona State law - and making sure that I stopped the check - at this point, I had a gut feeling they would try and keep at least some of my money.

On Saturday morning, I got a voice mail from the "district manager" who said he saw our cancellation and flew into town from Colorado to offer us  "a great deal that they don't offer to everyone."  Well, if they had such a "great deal" for us, why weren't we offered that upfront.  I didn't return his call.  I did file with the BBB in Arizona

My hope here is that people will research who they work with and NEVER do business with that company.  After reading all that I have, and talking to a lot of people since, I don't know how they stay in business.  I have even talked to a lot of installers who just shuttered when I mentioned Express Flooring - I heard the stories of inferior products switched out at the last minute.  I truly believe that if I would not have cancelled that night, I would have been in the same position as most people in these stories............left with an inferior product and installation, while being raped on the price.  Of course they have a "happy home" - I just wonder if the owners can really look themselves in the mirror and explain to their children that they make money ripping off the consumer.

My name is Thomas and I work in the warehouse for express home services and i just want to say that this comapny is not a good company. I am looking to get out of this position becuase they treat customers and employees very badly. I want consumers to know that we do product switching all the time. You will not get want you paid for. If you threaten to cancel they will drop the price.
