Extended Stay America Christian G Denied service for no reason Phoenix Arizona
First off this is an ongoing situation with extended stay in which we've experienced not only discrimination but also third party discrimination. This particular location is currently under investigation by the attorney general's office for discriminating against us having our service animal. I've stayed at this place several times and up until recently it was one of my favorite places to stay. However the last time we were there the manager discriminated against us having the service animal and had the audacity to even charge us or try to charge us $200 and when given an opportunity to see the certificate she denied that. She was very rude and disrespectful. However there's never a situation in which by law that I could be denied being able to stay or denied housing. Which is also a violation of our civil rights. So I get there tonight and I'm told that I cannot stay there. After I had already paid my money. We're both veterans and we are both currently homeless due to another situation with another agency they did not do their job and also currently under investigation by the attorney general's office. Also too for discrimination. I told the young man Christian behind the desk that they cannot deny me stay however he refused to let me in. When I asked why he said it's not stated why but I cannot rent to you. This is a direct result of the last time we stayed there and the fact that we had the service animal and the fact that the management did not like that we had not told them about it. However by law we do not have to. Even so I was told by the front desk the night before that I did not have to present the certificate stating that the animal is a service animal. I'm absolutely livid with this corporation at this point. I've experienced some of the rudest most disrespectful behavior none the least but including after paying for my stay but did not come downstairs to renew the keys the manager at one location actually entered my room when I was sleeping and then demanded that we leave because I did not come back downstairs and rekey the keys although I had already paid 4 hours in advance for another night stay. This is unacceptable and this is the first of many reports including to the better Business bureau and attorney general's office as well. The hotel industry in Phoenix Arizona has forgotten the basic core of being a hotel and this hospitality. These managers that they promote from within that have no people experience no formal experience do not know how to deal with people and do not have proper etiquette when it comes to dealing with customers should be fired. This is a constant repeating theme of people who do not have the background nor the experience to be management and they run the place as if it's their own. With no oversight no one doing annual training or anything. This is gearing up for a major lawsuit against this corporation. And I plan on pursuing this and seeing it through to the end. I'm fed up with being treated the way I've been treated I'm fed up with being told I cannot stay somewhere I'm fed up with being discriminated against.
