Eyemart Express Inaccurate prescription and made the glasses differently than the inaccurate prescription. Lancaster Pennsylvania .....

On June 11,2003 I went to Eyemart Express to get an eye check after noticing some challenges with reading. I was given a prescription which I had filled that day. My first pair of glasses. I received the glasses which were supposed to correct my challenges. I was told it would take a little time to adjust to find the correct focal point.

After a week of not being able to read anything without utilizing a magnifying glass, I returned to the store and asked to see if the glasses were correct as I was having trouble being able to read. The doctor wrote a different prescription which they promptly filled. I commented that I could not read a paper which I brought along as this was the type of reading I do on a daily basis. Again I was told it would take time to adjust.

after a couple days of not being able read without the maginifying lense. I went to another eye doctor who read the lenses. He then checked my eyes. The lenses didn't meet the prescription which was wrote. The second opinion prescription was vastly different than the first prescription.

I went back to Eyemart to let them know there was an error, As I started to explain the situation to the people there, I was told they did not make mistakes and I didn't know anything in very upset tone. At that point I handed them the glasses, pointing out that they were no good to me. This company is not very customer orientated. They believe they can't make errors and are do not stand behind their product.

I went back to the second opinion doctor. I purchased the prescribed lenses. Amazingling I was able to read things (my paperwork)immediately for which I was previosly using a magnifying lense. I don't have problem paying for what I get. I have a problem paying for items which do not perform and I have no recourse. So buyer beware of this organization. Your eyes are a very precious tool.

My apologies to my confusion over the situation. Let's be clear on one thing, I am a Former employee. Honestly, in this business you get a deal with a lot of people who are impatient and mean, with really no reason to be. I think that i was assuming you were someone else, based on your response this is obviously not the manner in which you approached your problem. I left the company after almost a year because of the person you had the bad luck of working with(I wont mention his name but we can assume he was wearing a white shirt and a red tie?) sometimes people who have no business working in a particular field end up there anyway, and for some reason wont find their way out--that would be him. The main reason I commented was because I thought I remembered being involved in your situation, and wanted to defend myself, because I simply would never treat a patient that way(nor would anyone else worth half a d**n) but the "gentleman" you worked with would. I tried as hard as I could to clean up every mess he made but soon realized that i didnt get paid enough money to fix the ten thousand problems caused by someone who is supposed to be the general manager.(I was his assistant with no official title) anyhow I will defend the company as a whole, any other store they run, as well as any other of their employees are top notch, and no one, including yourself will have any trouble with them, if there is a problem, which there of course sometimes are, it will be taken care of in a timely and efficient manner. Im also quite sure that the Eyemart Home office would be interested in hearing your story, you will find contact information on their website, which I believe is eyemartexpress.com I think you will be pleasantly surprised at the kind of service you receive once you go around the problem.

How many times should I have to keep going back to get them right?

I realize like any good employee, Tim is defending his company very vigorously. However he should realize that his company had already made me two pairs of glasses at the point when I had returned the second pair they had made. How many times should I have to keep going back to get them right? Don't they do quality checks ie. some one checks the glasses againstr the prescription which was wrote. I was also told at the time when I returned them that they had checked and no mistake was made. I am not an expert in glasses but if someone was telling me at the time of fitting that they could not see what they needed to see out of them. I had brought along some of the reading I needed to do on a daily basis to check out the lenses.

If he is the man who worked with me, which is not the name I remember, why did he not contact me after the glasses were returned to the store. I asked to see a manager at the time and was told that none was available. This is the first response including any potential phone calls that should have been made. I actually went in and asked before I visited this web site to see if they would do anything about the glasses. The resopnse was that they had earned their money and if I was not satisfied it was my tuff luck. It is amazing that it took another five months to get a response to this web site after posting the complaint, six months after I had the glasses done at another optometry center. I guess they really do go above and beyond a customer's expectation.

If this is their level of taking care of the customer, why would anyone want to do business with these people. I know they have earned the right to the termination of any of potential business that I would have done with them in the future. I also have paid for the right to tell other potential customers about the quality of service I have recieved from this organization.

defending myself and an extremely reputable company

I was an employee at eyemart express during the time of this man's visit. One thing that everybody needs to understand is that sometimes people make mistakes. Another thing that needs to be understood is that an optometrist writes your prescription based on YOUR responses to the questions and lenses shown, he doesnt just make it up and would have no reason to do so.

Also, eyemart express is a very reputable company. When they train their new staff they are trained to "do the right thing", and to "exceed their customers expectations" While there will always be a few bad apples (as anywhere in this world) the company as a whole and its policies and the vast majority of its employees only want what is best for the patients.

I felt compelled to respond to this(keep in mind it is the only complaint for this entire company)because i am pretty sure i was involved in this situation.

We would always do whatever was needed to please our customers, refunds, remakes, and even complimentary pairs of glasses were often given out to make right an inconvenience or problem, and would have been readily available in this situation im sure. All anyone needs to do in a situation like this gentleman had is approach it in a calm manner, remember that the people you are dealing with are people too, that sometimes make mistakes(just like everyone else on the planet), treat them with the same dignity and respect that you would treat anyone else you encounter... you will be amazed at the results, and better service you get(I was always the most generous with the nicest people!)not just in this situation, but throughout your daily interactions.

im sure that if he acquired a prescription he was happy with that eyemart would have been happy to remake the lenses with that Rx, and probably would have offered a complimentary pair for his inconvenience. Nobody's perfect. thanks
