Dual-Pricing: EyeStyles of New Jersey has one price for regular customers and another price for customers using a Groupon voucher.   They regularly sell 2 pairs of single focus prescription eyeglasses for $99, i.e. buy one, get one free.  Their regular price for one pair of single focus prescription eyeglasses in their cheapest line of eyeglass frames is also $99.  With a $200 Groupon voucher, they charged me $239 for 1 pair of the cheapest eyeglasses they offer with a single-focus prescription strength of 2.00 which is just a basic pair of reading glasses - power of 2.00.  My price, including what I paid for the Groupon voucher, would have been $68.  They also offered me a 2nd pair for a total cost to me of $94, a savings of $5 over their usual 2/$99 special.  Not worth going out of your way to purchase eyeglasses from them with a $200(?) Groupon voucher.

First of all, I have no motive to lie about my experience with you.  I am not in competition with you.  I am not a shill for some other eyeglass retailer.

For those who are taking the time to read this, I'd like you to be aware that at the same time I posted this review, I also posted the exact same review on DemandForce dot com.  My review was never posted.  Interesting?  They've only posted 4 and 5 star reviews.

The only reason for taking the time to have filed these reviews is to keep others, even if only one other, from being ripped off and wasting their precious time traveling to your place of business with the expectation of getting $200 of value from your $200 Groupon voucher.

My prescription was for a basic pair of reading glasses, power of 2.00.  I specifically requested the least expensive pair of eyeglasses that I could get.  I never asked for anti-glare coating and/or scratch guard.  In fact these options were never even discussed.

When I was quoted $265 for two pairs of eyeglasses with my $200 Groupon voucher, I asked again, "Don't you have anything cheaper? What about your 2/$99 special sign that stares you in the face as you enter?  I was then informed that you don't get any of the monies that I paid for your voucher.  Groupon keeps those monies and that the $265 price you quoted me was the best that you could do.

I then asked you, "How much would you charge for just 1 pair of your lowest priced eyeglasses?"  You quoted me $239 for just 1 pair of your cheapest eyeglasses.  Disgrunted, I actually went along with your price of $239 so as not to lose what I had paid Groupon for your $200 voucher.  But, before I drove out of your parking lot, I decided that I couldn't go along with your unethical dual pricing policy, and give you my business, even if it meant losing what I had paid Groupon for your $200 voucher.  I went back and canceled my order.

Just to double check, when I got home, I called your other store in Trenton.  I asked "How much do you charge for 1 pair of your cheapest reading glasses?"   I was quoted 2 pair for $99.  I again asked "How much for just one pair of of your cheapest reading eyeglasses?  I was told the regular price for one pair of reading glasses would still be $99.  Your BOGO special is "Buy one pair at regular price, get one pair free."

And so, you not only rip off people with your dual pricing policiy.  You also have no scruples with regards to lying.
To Groupon's credit, they credited my account for what I paid for your $200 voucher.

Yes, we do run a special for 2 pair of Single Vision (meaning reading or distance only) lenses in a non-warranteed frame.  However, this special comes with no extras.  What was not mentioned was that this individual also wanted anti-glare coating and scratch guard, both additional charges.  With our 2 for $99 special, AR and Scratch guard are not included and therefore make the total cost more than $99.  As a courtesy, we offered this individual a second pair with these add-ons for $5 less than our normal special--we felt that was a gesture of goodwill.

We have sold over 1000 coupons and haven't had any complaints in regards to theses issue or any others.  Weinvite anyone, including this individual, to check out our Facebook page to see what others think about our business.  Better yet, here's a link to another site that hosts our reviews:

Take a look and decide for yourselves.  We have been a family-run business for over 25 years now and we pride ourselves in exceptional service and rock bottom prices.
