EZ Movers Horrible Experience, Rude Immature Staff Stokie, Illinois
This was a terrible experience from start to finish. The movers arrived late, they left an entire room of funriture, they demanded more money which I later found out was illegal. According to the US Department of Transportation they can only demand up to 10% of the orginal estimate for out of state moves. I was out of state and they demanded a lot more than 10%. I had a Christmas tree, a big 8 foot Christmas tree for which they charged me for an "XL box" then it was never delivered and couldn't be found at their warehouse. They offered me compensation for a medium sized box.
Then upon unloading the moving men ran my armoire into the wall causing a hole the size of my fist and scraping the paint all the way up the wall. They also had dirty feet and stained my white carpet. As instructed by EZ Movers I got estimates, which was a total waste of my time because the estimates to fix the wall were all around $250 and carpet $100 but they only offered $50 for the wall and $20 for the carpet. It was a joke. The horrible uneducated claims rep said contractors in Chicago said that's what they would charge. I called BS and asked to see their statement or better yet to send them to my house.
Of course she never responded except to tell me that was their final offer. They're very quick to suggest arbitration. Which of course costs the client $300 to even file a claim. I'm sure they are aware that this is cost prohibitive and expect most people will not shell out that kind of money. They are bullies, unprofessional and I wouldn't use them again if they were free. We move a lot, being that we are military, and because of this we have a few more options but our next move we are hiring local movers to load and unload at each point and driving the truck ourselves. We suggest you do the same. No one can hold your stuff hostage when you're the one driving.
