I rented from them in January - March, 2016 (for 41 days). When I returned the car I asked the receiving agent to look at it and confirm that everything is okay. She did so and said that it is okay. A day later charged me additional NZ$150 claiming that the car was too dirty.

If she said on the spot that there is a problem I could do more cleaning. The amount of NZ$150 seems to be excessive in relation to the extra work in cleaning what they claimed to be not clean enough.

My request to email me any document that can substantiate the additional expense they incurred in cleaning the car I returned compare to what it cost to clean a car on regular basis was ignored. Under the Fair Trading Act on New Zealand, I believe an act like that will be considered unfair business practices.
