We had a loan with Equicredit that was sold to Fairbanks. Since we have been with them we have had nothing but hassles. We got behind for the first time on the mortgage and they called us everyday, sometimes up to 3 times a day. When we told them we paid it and had a cancelled check to prove it they still continued to call us.

We made payment arragements to get caught up and they still reported us late and sent forclosure notices every week. We were ready to make our final pymt on the arrangement plan when we received a notice with an additional 500.00 tacked on. We called to see why and were told that the rep that did our payment arragments set them up wrong. We did not understand what she said so called back and the next rep Al, employee #3d66 told us we needed to speak to the rep that we spoke to since they all figure payment plans out differently. You would think they would have a procedure set up for something like that.

At this point we asked for his supervisor but he refused to get a supervisor stating that he was as high as we would get. He even said please hold and proceeded to listen to the conversation my husband and I were having! Then he said he would not tranfer us and good luck calling back and trying to get one and hung up on us.

We finally got a supervisor, Ms. Whittaker who validated the rep's actions and tried to turn it all around on us. She refused to elevate the call higher.

They do not know the meaning of the words Customer Service. This company should be shut down. Now they have ruined our credit rating so much that nobody accept us for refinancing to get out from under their thumb.

EDitor's Comment ... MORE IMPORTANT TO POST ON RIP-OFF REPORT THAN WITH THE BBB OR ATTORNEY GENERAL

Listing your complaint on many Government links are no better than the BBB and are most likely just a waste of time, giving you false hope. Many government sites (like the BBB) just collect all information from you, the consumer, but never make that information available for all to see, so consumers will NOT be educated as to what exactly they should be looking out for. By these agencies not letting you see these complaints, making them public, you never know how bad the company or individual rip-off really is.

On the other hand, many government agencies have and do come to the Rip-off Report for information. We have been assisting many government agencies for some time now, including the FBI and Attorney General offices from around the country..

Now that all these Rip-off Reports are out in the open for everyone to see, in a way, this embarrasses these agencies into doing something when they see so many reports on a Company or Individual, because they are now out in the open for all to see.

Unfortunately, many (not all) Attorney General Office's and government agencies will not move against a rip-off unless there is going to be some sort of publicity on the rip-off. By reporting your experience on the Rip-off Report, is the next best thing to getting your story on TV or in a newspaper. Most national TV networks and many local TV stations from all around the country also come to the Rip-off Report for information they will not get from the BBB, Attorney General office's or any other government agency.

Rip-off Report has instigated many local and national stories, resulting in help for victims' world wide, in one way or another. Most government agencies will never even bother with rip-offs unless it involves $50,000 or more.

Now that the government is cutting back even more dollars for these types of programs, this number will even get higher and we can expect even less to get done, by even less people to work on all these rip-offs.

complain to Better Bussiness Bureau

#3Consumer Suggestion

Thu, September 19, 2002

the only way the public is to become aware is, if people makes their complaints known to agencies like better bussiness bureaus and consumer affairs. also attorney generals office can take steps to correct the situtions.

Our mortgage has just been sold to fairbanks capital corp. I have checked the better bussiness bureau and consumer affair. I see these complaints on the internet , why aren't they filed with with government agencies, if not for oneself, to help others keep from being harmed by the same business tactics. fairbanks capital corp. only has one complaint on record in 3 states.
