Fairbanks Capital Corp Unfair Business Practices and Bogus Charges ripoff business from hell Jacksonville Florida
I received a notice about the fees associated with a person coming out to the house to check and see if the house is abondoned. My wife was home when this supposed 'person' came out and checked on the house. I owe $190 in fees, nobody I reach can explain where or what the fees are for. I was given the runaround when I asked why we didnt see or hear the 'person' when they checked on the house. They must grab fees out of the air and stick them on a bill hoping someone will pay them. I feel this is the beginning of something terrible.

Mysterious Fees
#2Consumer Comment
Tue, January 14, 2003
I am experiencing the same problem as you. They call them "property preservation fees." First, I would contact customer service and request a copy of all "corporate advance fees" a.k.a payment history (this will include all mysterious fees that have accumulated on your account). I would recommend this to ALL Fairbanks customers. Then read over your mortgage contract (mine was formerly Equicredit) whether it is Fairbanks or another mortgage company. ie: my contract clearly states that I am supposed to be notified in writing (which I was not) of any type of inspection "drive-by", as Fairbanks refers to it! Therefore, I am disputing all of these fees by sending a dispute letter (which is what they required me to do). As a warning, if you have late fees, request a payment history before giving them any money towards the late fees because they will most likely apply them toward "corp advance fees" first and you will not know where your extra payment went. I'm hip to their act now and I don't like it one bit!!
Good Luck!
