I got behind in my mortgage payments and attempted to deal with Equicredit to resolve things.

Got the run around. Then I began getting letters from Fairbanks Capital attempting to collect the debt. It took me 2 months to finally get a payoff and another two weeks to get the amount it would take to catch up the loan. By then the house was scheduled for a foreclosure sale on June 6, 2002.

Today, 5.9.02, I talked to the representative in an attempt to work out some sort of agreement so I could keep my home. He said that Fairbanks was only a dept collector and didn't make any changes on loans, interest rates, etc.

I faxed him a letter I got from Fairbanks quoting me a different interest rate and loan payment that what he was indicatiing and he is supposed to call me back to discuss this.

I also have now received in the mail a notice from Fairbanks that my loan has been changed to a lower interest rate, with no cap on the loan (this was not discussed with me, and I was told they didn't do loands). Also, I received a letter saying that they had no proof in insurance on the property and that they added almost $200 onto the payment for the insurance. I need to do somehting so I don't lose my house on June 6, 2002.
