My boyfriend and I were at Islands of Adventures when we approached about taking a tour at a newly built hotel. We were offered $70 and 2 day night vacation for our time. We agreed to do the tour, and were amazed at the facility when we saw it. We then sat and listened to the sales person tell us about the program. In the end, it seemed like a great deal. I purchased 168,000 for about 12,000. I thought this would cover all of my vacation desires for my children and I. As I began to attempt to book stays, I noticed the diffciulty I had with speaking with a person that was familiar with my program. I have called various 800 #'s and a long distance numbers trying to get my questions answered. I realized about 2 weeks after signing, I was uncomforatble with my decision. By then, I was told it was day 11 into my contract, and now I could not cancel it.

My boyfriend and I were told that the monthly fees included housekeeping, but htey do not. We were told we got 168,000 points every odd year and that we had 2 years to use them. This is not true. We are only allowed to use the hotel in odd years, and the points are only good for 1 year. This means that we still have pay fees every other year when we can not even use the facility. They also added my boyfriend's income to mine in order to make it appear that we made about 50,000 a year. I am the one that is going to have to pay for this, and we are not married. I have made a horrible maistake. I am trying to cancel the contract, and I am actually trying to get with a lawyer. I obvioulsy did not realize the finacial strain this was going to put me on. Everytime I make a phone call there is a $99 fee for this or that. I was not told about a lot of things. I am dissappointed in myslef for not taking time to think about what I was doing. In addition, I am dissappointed in Fairfield for allowing such immoral practices to occur. A owner can not ask questions once there contract is signed beacuse there information is not in the system. I was actually told to call after my information was in the system, by then it was too late.

I am so frustrated, and I want this to all go away.

I hd to get my brother who is a lawyer involved in the situation. After many phone calls I have had my contract cacnelled and my money refunded onto my credit card. I had to call in the salesmans manager who was there the day that I signed the contract. He assisted me in getting the contract cancelled. I still do not who changed my credit card application. I am hoping my brother still wants to pursue legal actions based on the credit card fraud. This has been a long nightmare. I am obviously fortunate to fone my way out of the contract. The credit card fraud they commited shows how desperate they are get your sale. Dont do it!

Credit Card Fraud RCI and Fairfield are brother companies...one owns the other

#6Author of original report

Fri, March 25, 2005

I am still trying to get out of this mess. I paid for my Fairfield timeshare by RCI credit card. I filled out the information and signed the application. Fairfield then applied for me ...I assume via Internet. RCI and Fairfield are brother companies...one owns the other. I am a 2nd year school teacher who makes 29,100. They changed my information to reported without my approval or knowledge that I make 65,000. Those salesman knew I was applying to see if this was even an option for me. They knew with my income I would not get a credit limit that I needed to purchase their product. Their lying and alteration of my application is fraud and immoral. Had they not done that and would have been honest about the contract, I would have never signed. PLease PLease do not do business with Fairfield.
