Fairview Northeast Clinic Fairview Violates Hippaa Privacy Laws, Internet
Fairview Northeast Clinic violated the Hipaa laws and allowed a receptionist to view my personal medical information. On October 26, 2009, my Civil rights and right to privacy was grossly violated. I had an appointment with a Doctor and upon check in at the front desk, the receptionist named Keith asked me my name. He seemed to have not found my name on the computer. I asked him, did you find me? He said yes and then seemed to take quite awhile on the system, staring at the monitor. He then printed out a sheet of paper and sat there and stared at it with a smug expression on his face. That piece of paper had my entire medication list. I am very upset that this receptionist even had access to my personal information. This act was a gross violation of my privacy, my civil rights and the Hipaa Federal laws. I spoke to the Doctor about it and he said he should NOT have done that. Only nurses and Doctors have the right to access that information. I felt embarrassed and totally humiliated.
Fairview is allowing receptionists to access and print out personal and confidential medical information, which is a gross violation of Federal law. I demand Keith be discharged immediately and NOT allowed to work at any Fairview location again. I wrote a letter to Fairview and their response was the receptionist have Hipaa training. This statement is nothing but a lie and I can prove it. Reading a pamphlet is not formal training.
Patients must Demand Fairview not give access to personal information to receptionists, who have NO medical training.
