Fairway Ford's Service Department has to be one of the worst places to take your vehicle for maintenance. I won't even go into the time that they left my oldcap off and a screwdriver on my engine block after a routine oil change. No, I want to let everyone know that they need to stay far away from Fairway Ford if they want anything done to their tires or brakes...even just having them checked out by a mechanic.

I am the proud idiot who has be duped by the service department at Fairway Ford nearly every time I have taken my car in for maintenance. I ordered a new Contour SE in 1996 and have been getting regular scheduled maintenance like a good little boy. To the point: I did not realize that their service department personnel had tagged me as a "sucker" until after my 6th brake and rotor replacement on all four wheels!

That's right, they have insisted about every 12 to 15 thousand miles that my rotors and brake pads were "out of specs" and needed to be replaced. I have since been informed that there is no such thing as "out of specs" for the rotors and that they can easily be "machined" for about $40.00. I have been paying $450.00 because I was told they "have to be replaced".

ive worked on a couple of these cars and it seems that if you check the pads and shoes more often then you dont have to worry about rotors and drums for a long time but i would take the car to another shop for another opinion or if you take an evening to take the rotors and drums into a parts store that turns drums and rotors they might be able to tell you if there good or not

a good place to go for that is like carquest or bumper to bumper or checker somewhere that advertises that they turn brakes and they should be a lot less expensive and aiso its alot less expensive if you do your own brakes get a haynes or chiltons book and do it your self

i was told it was going to be $1200 for my four wheel brakes and wheel seals and i did it for between $200 and $250 just for the parts

plus since you've got a front wheel drive car it'll be alot easier

so good luck
