Fairwood Pet Center Selling Puppies from a puppy mill!! Renton Washington

I bought a puppy from this place, they called it a "rare" seal color (my dog is a boston terrier) I loved how unique she was and bought her for the incredable price of $1200 plus tax! I looked at a few books and it said seal/white is a possible color for a boston, that is also the color listed on her papers. But as I did more research and read a more accurate description, seal is a black with a tint of red, and a brown color is accuatually unacceptable!

When I contacted the store with my complaint, I received no response, I sent email's and called them. Still nothing... I want some of my money back, my puppy should have been sold for no more than $500.00 considering she is the wrong color for her breed...
Also, I later was told by one of the employess they get all their puppies from one breeder, at the moment there was more than 25 puppies in their store! PUPPY MILL!!! I looked up the breeder on my papers and sure enough!
It's called Thunder River Kennels and is located in Elk Creek, Mo

Here's a website that talks alittle bit about how they do things!

DO NOT BUY PUPPIES FROM THIS PLACE!!!
Dont' make the same mistake I made, you will overpay, they will lie to you, and you will be supporting a horrible abuse of dogs!

They are from a PUPPY MILL!!!!

10 years since Julia complaint.  People still buying sick puppy mill dogs from this business.  Julia they lied to you about not buying puppy mill dogs anymore if you were wondering.  This poor couple bought their 1100 dollar dog and it was sick with parvo within a day.  They spent 7,000 dollars to keep it alive but it died. According to this just published article the pet store refused to tell them where their dying puppy came from.  And the topper in the whole dispute that confirmed what we all know.....the pet store brought in puppy mill industry lawyers. Thunder River Kennel is a class B license meaning they are nothing more than the middle man, a dealer so pet stores can say they are not dealing with puppy mills -- no your not you just have someone else to fill your orders.  I don't feel sorry for you at all.  these problems are not brought about by disgruntled employees.  This are people you are hurting and it means nothing you've been in business as long as you have   --- just more years of unethical immoral money made killing dogs for profit.  http://www.seattledogspot.com/dog-health-wellness/couple-says-renton-pet-store-sold-them-a-puppy-with-parvovirus/

Accusing Fairwood Pet Center of selling puppies from a puppy mill is an outright lie with no basis in fact.  It is defamation.  We believe this slanderous attack all began with a job interview that did not go the way the applicant had hoped.  Apparently we chose wisely.

Fairwood Pet Center wants nothing more than to have the transition of the newest family member a smooth one.  Included with every puppy is free vet exam/well check and a health guarantee.

Fairwood Pet Center has hundreds of happy and satisfied families from Everett to Olympia and beyond in its 33+ years in business.

Thank you in advance for not being swayed by malicious allegations from a “Concerned Citizen”  who has NOTHING to back the claims.

Nice Try. According to Petadviser.com:

Don’t Be Fooled by Registration

Puppy mills have attracted a lot of attention, and for good reason.

Many breeders use the term “papers” or “registered” to give the illusion of approval from a governing body of either the facility conditions or the type of breed. Many people also assume this provides evidence of the health of the puppies — not true.

While the breeder may register the parents or grandparents of the puppies, the governing body usually doesn’t perform inspections or monitor the breeder’s operation. It’s just a piece of paper.

If you are provided a registration certificate or papers from an organization, be sure to call, email or check online lists to see if the breeder is actually registered or if his privileges have been suspended. If he uses a registration you have never heard of before, check it out either online or through a local business bureau. Your local animal shelter or humane society may be able to help determine if the organization is fake or untrustworthy.

Fairwood Pet center actually goes through 3 different breeders. One in Minnesota, Thunder River, and one HERE IN WASHINGTON! Thunder River is one that they continually have problems with so they will periodically not order puppies for a period of time (usually due to PARVO outbreaks). The breeder in Minnesota is just as horrible, and that is where the majority of their puppies actually come from. (Happy Tails Kennels). Just save a life and either adopt of buy from a reputable breeder. I own purebreds, one of whom is Champion Lined, and I still paid nowhere near what this digusting excuse for a pet store would have charged! ALL OF THEIR PUPPIES ARE FROM PUPPYMILLS!!!! EVERY PUPPY THEY SELL SUPPORTS THESE GREEDY, MONEYGRUBBING, PUPPY KILLERS!!!!

Dear Mrs. Boltach,

Fairwood Pet Center has been in business for over 25 years, and we are happy to see puppies go into loving homes. In June 2006 (the time Mr. Dennis Boltach purchased a puppy), we were dealing with three long time breeders (two of which we have been dealing with for 15 years), whose facilities are regularly inspected by local governing agencies.

We realize purchasing a puppy can be not only a large investment financially, but emotionally as well. Fairwood Pet Center has a play area where our customers are encouraged to handle, play with, and inspect the puppies before time of purchase. Also, there is an extensive contract which is reviewed with our customers at the time of sale. We highly recommend our customers do their research prior to making such a life changing decision, as there are no refunds on puppies (as stated in our contract).

We sell pure breed and mixed breed puppies. The purchase price of the puppy is determined by the cost of the animal at the time of purchase. All puppies we sell are of pet quality (All pets are pet quality. Suggested weight, size, and color with each breed may vary. as stated in our contract). This does not mean you can not show or breed your dog if they qualify if you wish. This just means we do not guarantee anything other than a pet quality animal.

The AKC (American Kennel Club) paperwork supplied by the breeder for your dog lists seal / white. She is registered with the AKC. Again, this does not mean your dog is not a purebred, she is. If you get a pedigree, it will show her lineage and the colors of her sire and dam.

Again, we are happy to hear this puppy went into a loving home, but can not offer you any type of refund as stated in the contract.

Respectfully,

Fairwood Pet Center
