Family Credit Counseling Corporation Family Credit Counseling Corporation; closed their doors, ran off with my money, and severely damaged my credit report Lauderdale Lakes Florida
I started with FCCC in August 2006. I was promised excellent customer service from a "Christian" based company. I thought I was taking a step in helping myself. The money was being drafted from my bank account twice a month to make payments to my creditors. Often times the payments were late, and at times not paid at all. I would make numerous phone calls to get these situations straightened out. I recall this summer just asking them if they were taking my money. I was always told they would take care of everything and get things straightened out. Things would get better for about two months, then I would go through the same thing all over again.
On October 13th I recieved a letter that as of October 14th I would no longer be a client of FCCC, but my account would me managed by American Debt Counseling. However, FCCC drafted the money for my October payments, but when they closed their doors these payments didn't go to my creditors leaving me a payment behind. I also paid them an upfront monthly payment that I was supposed to get back once I completed the program. I realize I'll never see this money again, but what is the most damaging is what they've done to my credit report.
I realize I'm not the only one who has been ripped off by FCCC, I wish you all the best of luck!!! If anyone is having any luck getting this situation straightened out I'd love to know what you are doing. I've been in contact with the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General, I haven't heard anything yet but hopefully I will soon.
