Complaint Review: Family Dollar Stores

Family Dollar Stores Another burned-out, sick, divorced Manager Charlotte North Carolina

I am yet another Family Dollar Manager who has been turned from a cheery, loving person to an angry, nightmare-ridden, constantly sick person who has had to divorce in order to continue working 80-95 hour work weeks on a diminishing budget. My husband never sees me any more, and when he does, he has to listen to my crying, my health issues, my headaches, etc. I come home long enough to have a meal, when I can eat at all, and then go to bed, and get ready for another 14 hour day. I just had one of my two days off taken away because my store was not up to the regional director's standards.

I often get 1000 - 1200 piece trucks with only one other person to help, because Family Dollar sees fit to pay for only one other employee other than me at one time. I enjoy working, but this is too much even for me. We have a payroll that is just slightly bigger than my salary, the one that was promised to me for my 52 hour work week, as was explained when I was hired. I have often spent 13 hours there alone, because the other person for that day was sick. This cannot go on. I am in touch with several other managers who have lost their marriages and health, trying to work an impossible job

Hi Cory and Jerry!

The group you need to look up is at [DELETED] Rip-off Report.

Talking about this issues with FDS is very good therapy to be sure...but in working together we have the potential to actually make a difference.

Thanks and be well,

I Put Up With That Crap For Years

#3Consumer Comment

I put up with that crap for years. Zales, Sears, HEB. 44hrs in 4 days,87hrs a week, the final draw, 168hrs in 11 days. Went to work before my wife got up and got home after she had gone to sleep. 168hrs in 11 days and was on salary. Got my first paycheck and would have made more money bagging groceries. Gave notice that day, Thursday and was in intensive care on Sat. for a week. As long as you stand for it, and these ahole companies can find someone who will, it will continue. There is no loyalty anymore from these companies, they will use you up, burn you out and throw you away without a care, then outsource your job to another country. Workers of America unite. I then opened up my own shop, 10 years ago and haven't looked back since.
