In the summer of 2008 we purchased four double hung Farley Windows from Home Depot. The kitchen window has always been a bit glitchy, but then about five months ago it would not lock at all when closed properly. We got to the point that we had to push up the top part and push in the bottom when closing the window, and usually it would close and lock after several attempts. Sometimes one latch would lock, but not the other; sometimes neither would lock. This was very frustrating.
We contacted Home Depot and last week they sent out a person from the company who installed the windows. He was very rude, kept opening and closing the window himself, and clearly had no desire to listen to what the actual problem is. All in all he gave us a lecture on how to close a window. No help, very frustrating. We asked to see a representative of Farley Windows.
The Farley Windows rep came to our house this morning. Again we received a speech about how to close a window. When he finally stopped talking we explained the problem to him. He replaced the tilt latches, but the window still would not close properly. With the replaced latches you would now have to push the window in a different way to get it to close. He indicated that all of the customers he has visited who have a window over their kitchen sink have the same problem. He seemed completely indifferent to the problem, basically said that's the way it is, and left.
