Farley Windows No Warranty Transfer after buy out Alexandria Ontario
Purchased Farley Windows in 2004 via Mitten Vinyl 100 Av Wright Dartmouth, NS B3B 1P2 Canada.
The original seal on the brick mold to the frame was inncorrectly back clauked by the manufactor and the installer did not correct it at the time of installation. The seal broke on a casement window about 2 years ago. When if found out the company went out of business and taking over hoped it would be covered under warranty. No luck. $500 for it in 2004, and it now cost $550.00 or more for a similar window, plus installation fee of double the price of the unit itself.
The biggest issue is getting the installer to quit blaming the company for their mistakes. Home Depot kindly gave me what parts they could but were unable to get weather stripping for the 2004 windows from the new company. Mitten Vinyl was no longer carry the windows, and refused to help me. You feel ripped off.
When you purchase a window from a business the warranty is only valid if the company is in business. Replacement parts are now your responsiblity. Now you suffer from the poor quality work of the manufacturer who didn't seal the entire unit or the installer that damaged the product by poor installation procedures. Either way the lifetime warranty is useless, as are the many remedies. The sealed unit are easy remove and replace but you pay for it. It's the headache discovering there is no warranty at all on the product itself, and there is no protection from the installers who covers up the poor installation of their work with molding.
Cracks and mould smell from the wet rot allowed us to ripped off the cover up, and discover how warranties claims are no longer valid leaving the customer to deal with the window industry. It's a horrible experience for home owners. Every house has at least 10 windows. Making it impossible for individuals to replace the existing mess without getting a loan from the bank leaving them with the task to fix product defects without a warranty. Buyer be ware of the every changing landscape of vinyl window world. I truely wish I had never ever replace the original windows. Watch the many videos on line on how it install windows and ask the installer to explain every detail before they take your old window out. Make sure the window company is still in business and check out on line the reviews. None of that was available 2004. Be ware window warranties are not the same as other products on the market.
