There's enough reports out there to hopefully give you an idea on how this company conducts their business. Believe everyone of them. They are true. This report is brief because of those other reports and I don't want to sound repetiitve, but instead affirming them.

They have made numerous errors on my returns over the past few years. Every year I thought it would get better and that they're human, everyone makes mistakes but it kept happening and I soon realized that this is a company that has no reason to be in this business.

I think they have a terrible philosophy in promising potential new clients that their books are not kept as well as they should be, and that they can represent and defend you with the CRA if audited (they tell this to you before they even see your books!) If you want to be scared into getting an accountant than FBC is for you!

Even worse they will not file your return until they can secure your annual membership fee. 

For the incompetent service provided there is no way you should ever pay these enormous "Membership fees". Look for a smaller accounting firm in your local area that has a good reputation. They'll also probably not ask for a membership fee to be paid in full prior to working for you.

John, thank you for bringing your concerns to my attention. On behalf of my team I would like to apologize for any mistakes that were made on your returns. 

Our entire team takes great care to provide all our Members with accurate returns and the best possible tax advice. When one of our Members has an experience that is not up to expected standards we are committed to taking the steps necessary to resolve all issues to your satisfaction.

Our Membership is centred on delivering on our four core principles:

  1. Tax Planning – Working with our Members to ensure they have a tax plan that allows them to minimize their tax burden and pay the least amount of taxes now and over the long term
  2. Consulting – To be there for our Members when they need us and help them to make the best business decisions
  3. Tax Preparation –Optimizing our Members’ tax return(s) for the best possible outcome
  4. Audit Protection – Backing our services with a clear guarantee

With respect to our audit guarantee, we believe that a valuable feature of our Membership is the inclusion of prior returns, even if we did not prepare them. The CRA follows a rigorous process to select and conduct audits and we want our Members to feel confident knowing that, should they be selected, we will stand behind our solutions and work with the CRA on our Members’ behalf.

I would welcome the opportunity to meet with you to discuss your concerns and put an action plan in place to address them. We value our relationship with all our Members and we are committed to taking the actions necessary to correct any mistakes so you receive the services you expect from us.
