Fazolis Violating federal wage and hour laws Cookeville Tennessee
Several employees of the evening/night shift are being "clocked out" by the manager and then have to stay for several hours afterward cleaning, etc. and are not being paid for it. For example: 11:00pm clocked out but not able to leave until 3am, washing dishes & cleaning, etc. The manager spends large amounts of time on his cell phone and I suspect they are having to do things he is supposed to be doing or overseeing before closing time, to cover for his goofing off. These employees are high-school and college aged part-time or summer jobs and afraid they will lose their jobs if they report him. What is the best way to handle this? I know this is illegal on the federal level.

The best way to handle it is to file with the state employment board. This is highly illegal and they need to do it immediately.
They won't get fired for whistleblowing, its illegal to fire them for that.
