The reason your getting these OD problems IS NOT the BANK!! See although you swipped your card where you made the purchase, its on the company which you made the purchase from to send in thier debit requests in a timely manner. All they would get is a confermation that you have AVAILABLE funds in your account when you swipped you card. I know for a fact that MANY businesses DO NOT do thier debit transactions daily. I have even seen a company like Dennys cause OD issues because they will put in a request a week later then when you dined with them. Not every business drops thier requests daily. You are getting screwed by the companies you are doing business with. There isnt a banker sitting at a computer manually reordering your transactions. Its a automated system that only lists the requests sent in. Sure they can tell you when you made your purchase but the system isnt smart enough to "float" your pending transactions. That is solely on the business where you made your purchase. Debit IS NOT a straight line withdrawl from your account. If these companies are submitting your debit request late then you will have late fees because you spent more then you had available, simply because you made that assumption.

Best bet: Treat ALL debit transactions like a check, in that it can take up to 3 days for the money to be pulled out. That should save you both the embarassment of a debit card being declined and from the a*s your going to make of yourself at the bank.
