Complaint Review: Federal Extended Services

 We purchased a new Maytag Bravo Series state of the art washer/dryer combo. Since it is all electronic, we purchased the extended warranty for 3 yrs from Home Depot.

They are licensed and bonded. And we did infact have to use them for repairs.

Once the 3 yr. extended warranty was up, we received an offer from "Maytag"  to purchase another 1 to 5 yr extended warranty. Being that we already had to use the repair services, it was a good idea to purchase this.

What we did not realize was it was not from "Maytag". It was from "FEDERAL WARRANTY SERVICE CORPORATION".

2 years into the purchase, our dryer stopped working. Called the repair service, scheduled a repair. Poor service repair person couldn't even fix it. He knew nothing about this type of dryer other than he had to call the extended warranty people to authorize a part to be delivered. The very next day, I received a call from the "extended warranty" people to say they were offering me a refund from my warranty service plan because it was "not cost effective".

You get no other options. Accept the portion of refund or not. End of story.

They teach these poor people on the other end of the phone to use this terminology. Seriously, they repeated these very words 15 times after each question I would ask about my service plan. What???? Send me up the food chain. I want to talk with someone who has more knowledge then the keeper of the phones. Well, he was better using the very same words than the young lady, whom is not responsible.

I was so mad, I spent the next 45 minutes with the manager idiot, trying to get an answer other than "it is not cost effective". They would include with my settlement check an "Inside Pass" to purchase another product on line?

Really.....who in their right mind buys a washer/dryer on line?

So I will tell anyone reading this. Be very vigilant when purchasing extended warranty service plans. Especially beyond the ones sold by Home Depot/Lowes/Sears etc.

FRAUDS ALL THE WAY TO THE BANK!!
