Complaint Review: Feldco windows and doors

Feldco windows and doors Oct of 2010 I hired Feldco to install two patio doors. One in my kitchen and one in my family room. Since day one I had problems with the doors. The family room door was put in incorrectly. The door will not close unless I push on it to close.  Des Plaines illinois

Oct of 2010 I hired Feldco to install two patio doors. One in my kitchen and one in my family room.

Since day one I had problems with the doors. The family room door was put in incorrectly. The door will not close unless I push on it to close. Servicemen came out many times assuring me they would adjust it, since the family room door was not put in the right way. Finally I was so angry having to call back many times and having to stay home to wait for a serviceman to come out, Feldco sent the manager out six months later. He took one look at the door and explained to me it had to be reinstalled due to the incorrect installation from the beginning. I waited and waited for a phone call, never called. In the mean time I had a major medical problem and forgot about the door.

One year later, since the family room door was not opened I remembered the problem and now the kitchen door screen would not open. The kitchen door is used every day in the summer. This is why I needed the repairs asap. Having a backyard pool and not being able to open the door made my husband and I furious. I once again called and asked why this company is so unresponsive to their customers. The manager, Shea, told me the service manager that came out in the past is no longer with the company.[i]

 

[i]  She did look back in his notes, saw that he said to reinstall the doors but the complaint was filed away and I was forgotten. I called so many times and servicemen came out, I lost count on how many times someone came out after so many calls.

Fast forward to 2019, since again my husband had a major heart surgery the doors again were put on the back burner. Aug of 2019, I had enough, the kitchen screen would not open, and the molding was completely falling off on the outside. The family room door not only could not open but the wood along the bottom was rotten due to the doors leaking.

I called Shea once again stating how angry I was and needed these doors repaired or replaced asap.

She called me back after talking with Nick the boss and agreed someone would come to my home asap. This serviceman came out stating the installer was so terrible he was no longer with the company. He said over and over, the problem was Feldco the company I hired put the doors in incorrectly which is why they are leaking.

I receive a call back stating I will have to pay for all labor to install the same door correctly since it was out of warranty. I am so angry today the doors are still not installed correctly. I have called many times and have gotten the run around. Today, finally I have a date eight months later to reinstall the family room door and not sure about the molding on the kitchen door. I am now forced to pay the labor cost if I want my doors to work correctly. I was also told the doors will no longer match, since the original door manufacturer company either went out of business or no longer make the door.  Please, if you are looking for windows or door replacement do not call Feldco Windows company.  I wish someone could help me to force Feldco to stand behind their work.
