My wife worked at Fidelity Investments for seven years and always had glowing evaluations, got along well with co-workers, and received many awards. About 5 years into her employment the attitude changed in her department and she began noticing that woman managers were being forced out or re-organized. Foreign managers were being hired and some from the middle eastern regions had a less than favorable view of women. My wife one day received a written reprimand completely out of the blue with no prior oral warning. There was nothing else in her personel file about any problems. Because of this and the stress of her job (she was working 80 hrs a week on a very stressful project with a timeline and no assistance from management) she began having health issues and her doctor removed her from work due to stress and heart related issues. She filed for short term disability and even though she had 3 doctors who said she could not perform her duties she was denied short term disability by CIGNA, Fidelity investments insurance provider. we have been fighting this denial for 8 months and have hired a lawyer but there doesn't appear to be any light at the end of the tunnel. lesson is BEWARE OF MANAGEMENT AT FIDELITY INVESTMENTS IF YOU"RE A WOMAN OR OLDER WORKER AND DON'T GET ILL OR INJURED AND EXPECT THEIR INSURANCE COMPANY TO PAY!!
