I purchased a Ford Explorer from Peachtree Ford in Atlanta Ga in October of 1998. Through the same dealership, I also purchased a 100,000 mile bumper to bumper "PREMIUM" WARRANTY which practically covers everything but wear and tear.

I am currently having to have major work done now. The dealer is required to make a diagnosis and then call Fidelity Warranty to get approval for payment.

One electrical part is going to take 3 hours to complete in terms of labor. The Warranty company states that they only pay a maximum of one hour for this labor. Nowhere in the original contract does it say there is a maximum amount of labor hours that the warranty will pay.

I advised the representative at Fidelity of this and request he tell me where he got this information. He stated that it is not in contract but that is their rule. When I contacted the dealership they state that it is between me and Fidelity. They have also been very hard to deal with.

I advised the dealer that they sold me the warranty and they could assist me. I have fought over this for 2 days and expect to continue to have to fight. I will take legal action if necessary.

I am warning all people to be careful of warranties, they are not worth it. I paid over 1400.00 for this warranty and I would have been better off to keep the 1400 and paid for repairs myself. Believe me, I have learned my lesson and I do hope that others can see this before they make the same mistake.
