This so-called Fashion company start-up is a bogus sham.

Here is the ad they posted on craigslist:
http://newyork.craigslist.org/mnh/med/2328011891.html

First of all, they would only interview candidates in a group, like cattle, around a big conference table they clearly rented by the hour in the Chrysler Building.

Why would you interview a photographer or writer in a group? Why would a photographer agree to show work in such an unprofessional situation?

Secondly, they would only interview you if you agree to be videotaped during the group interview, and sign a release form, basically allowing them to do whatever they want with your videotaped image.

As per their Photograph and Video Release Form:
I hereby grant permission to the rights of my image, likeness, and sound of my voice as recorded on audio or video tape without payment or any other consideration to Fidoo Inc. I understand taht my image may be edited, copied, exhibited, published or distributed and waive the right to inspect or approve the finished product wherein my likeness appears. Additionally, I waive any right to royalties or other compensation arising or related to the use of my image or recording. I also understand that this material may be used in diverse educational settings within an unrestricted geographic area.

It goes on and on...obviously their intention is not to interview qualified and talented people for a job but to gather video footage for who knows what. Porno movies? Stock footage to sell to Asia? Who knows?
What honest, hard working and serious job candidate would agree to virtually signing away all rights to their own image to these Bozo's?

They claim to be a: "web based application that organizes information about fashion brands, designers, and stores. We highlight some of the most popular and sought after styles in the world of fashion."

Hard to believe if you took a look at the so-called Human Resource staff leading this sham. One sat in dark glasses [Canal Street purchase, perhaps?] and a tacky suit at the head of the conference table, and the other one wore a 100% polyester monstrosity dress which revealed her underwear to all.

They claim:
Pay for this position is $1,000-$2,500/month.

Then they go on to stipulate:
Minimum 20 articles a month
Pay will be scale by number of exceeded articles
Statistics of page visits
Original photography
Great written article [according to whom? Their literature is riddled with spelling and grammatical errors galore!]
Original articles [that drive traffic]
Exclusive content [interviews, new line photos, exclusive fashion news, etc]

This position will start as a part time position as we find the people we like it will develop into a full time position.

In other words, they may use any excuse not to pay for work submitted. If it doesn't get enough hits, if it doesn't "drive traffic to the site" and so on and so forth.

This is clearly a scam, and a waste of time. I urge all honest New Yorkers in search of employment to look elsewhere. Your roundtrip metro card fare to this interview would be better served at another job seeking destination. eg Duane Reade or McDonalds.

First of all, I'd like to remind readers that
although this site does empower consumers by revealing unlawful business
practices, it also permits individuals to slander businesses with false
information. We, at Fidoo Inc, have unfortunately been hit with the
"hater" stick by an unqualified candidate who was asked to leave
because of his inability to refrain from asking questions before the Q&A
portion of the interview. Based on the irrelevant issues in his article
regarding race and clothing, he clearly does not have any real arguments to
support his insinuations of our illegitimacy. Why is it a
crime to wear sunglasses indoors? It's a fashionable accessory that even the
leader of the couture Chanel fashion house, Karl Lagerfeld, rocks 24/7.
Since when is it shady to conduct a group interview? And since when did it
become suspicious to temporarily occupy an office space in the Chrysler
building? Would he rather meet in a dark alley at the Meat-Packing District? We
are an internet-based company headquartered in Minneapolis, which explains the
unnecessary need for a permanent office location in NYC. Unless he'll
graciously pay for our rent, our start-up business does not need the extra
overhead cost.  The video section; which was explained clearly to every one was a quick 1-3 minute interview to find out who the potential candidates are and what their related work background was. The fact that someone would try to relate what we are doing to a porn business gives all the readers a clear idea of who is writing these slanderous things about our company.

Fidoo, which stands for Fashion Information
Distribution Organized Online, is an online search engine that can pinpoint the
availability of any brand in any store in any location within the USA.....talk
about a shopoholic's dream! Fabulous fashionistas, lost tourists, and tired
travelers....Fidoo is your fashion GPS! Fidoo also provides a space for
individuals to create their own fashion profile and to view articles,
photographs and blogs of fashion news, events, and trends from our creative and
connected team of photographers and writers. So ultimately, Fidoo's central aim
is to help people attain, understand, and express fashion!  A more in
depth description of our mission statement, services, and history can be viewed
on www.fidoo.com.

It is not unusual for a start-up business, like
ours, to encounter attacks that question our legitimacy and legality. They
pounced right before our exciting, innovative and nationwide hard launch that
would have automatically negated their false allegations. But hey, there's no
such thing as bad publicity? If anything, they got us free PR and marketing.
But, be forewarned that this small hiccup will not hinder Fidoo's grand reveal!
This just got our team even more pumped to launch the Fidoo movement!
Fashionistas of the world, unite!
