Let me apologize in advance, this long and there is no way to tell it short !

In August of '07 I received a letter from 5/3 saying my final payment of 2959.05 was due. I sent the money and thought I was done.

In October, I recieved a letter from the Default dept. saying I owed 0.00 (yes, 0.00). I thought that was odd, so I called the # on the letter & they said "oh, we saw that letter & tried to stop it, but couldnt. Your account is good & paid in full".

In December I got a call from Mary in the legal dept. informing me I owed them $108.00 and could I pay it. I said this was new news to me, & being that it was 2 wks before x-mas, I did not have any extra money that month, but would be getting paid on the 26th and could take care of it then. I also told her I had these letters regarding balances and didn't they count for anything? She said they had fine print on them that stated any remaining money, 5/3 could ask for. She said she would put this off until after the new year for me. (forward to after x-mas, the letters do not say that anywhere).

January: 8:30 am everyday, I get calls from 5/3. I have decided that I am not going to just send them $ ! I have letters that say I owe them nothing.

January 16 I spoke with Andrea in the Dispute Dept. and explained my story, she was decent, but still told me I owe them. I called back later that day and spoke with Charles who made it his job to let me know how stupid I am by telling me 'its not clicking with you, just pay the money'. This man was so unprofessional & rude. He had me in tears (of anger). I asked to speak to his manager and he refused & said he did not have to put him on (what the hell?). I had to ask over and over again, and yes, I did end up calling him a name that starts with F ends in er (as a last resort).

Charles finally put me on with Derrick Flynt, his supervisior. He basically stood up for Charles' treatment of me & told me the same things. Alot of wasted time, and I still could not believe that this company was treating me like this!

If I give them the 108.00 today, what kind of protection do I have against them calling me in 3 more months telling me I owe them more ?

And here is the proof that that will happen:
Today, Jan. 18 8:30am 5/3 wake up call, I answer to tell them I am working on this and Kristy in collections tells me today I owe them over $600.00 in late fees and intrest !

I am beside myself! They also tell me I have 15 days or this will become a sign off and be terrible on my credit report.

I cannot get any kind of straight answer from this company! Today I called the phone number on the pay off letter to ask for John P. Knieriem, Senior VP. (That's the name signed on the letter) I thought what the heck. They told me I could not get in touch with him AND they are the mortagage loan dept. so they could not help me--they just send out the payoff letters, but don't have anything to do with auto payoffs !!!
I am beginning to think someone over there made a huge mistake and is trying to get me to pay. Why have I not received any letters about this? Why can't I get a straight answer from anyone? Why can't any employee tell me how I can get in touch with a upper level manager? or the name of one?

What is wrong with this company? one word-- GREED.
