DO NOT LEASE A VEHICLE THROUGH FIFTH THIRD BANK! My lease was up on 8/13/04. I got a loan to buy the vehicle through my local bank and sent in the payoff check to Fifth Third Bank on 8/9/04 with certified delivery. I received confirmation that they received my check on 8/11/04. I called them on 8/23/04 to make sure my account has been paid off and closed.

To my surprise my account was still open and my check had not been processed. I was told to call my local bank and see if the check was cashed, so I did and Fifth Third cashed my check on 8/16/04. I had my bank fax them a copy of the cashed check on 8/17/04. At this point the harrasing phone calls and delinquent lease notices are starting.

I requested to speak to someone in managament, the manager that I had to deal with about as worthless as the customer service dept. He did not return my phone calls and was very rude and became angry when I asked to speak with his supervisor or someone there that actually knew something. This went on until 9/1/04 they posted my check to the wrong acct...NOT MY PROBLEM!

When they received proof of the cashed check on 8/17/04 my acct should have been taken care of and closed and THEIR error delt with later. I was told that they don't understand what the big deal is, the big deal is I am getting harrassed for not making a payment that I made and now my local bank is calling threatening to charge me $200.00 for the vehicle title that they still don't have.

I am showing having a loan and a lease for the same vehicle! And they don't understand what the big deal is!!!! How on earth is the company still in business and worse yet handling our finances.
