I have deposited 4 USPS Money Orders into my checking account.  The first USPS Money Order that was deposited was on 02/25/2013 in the amount of 899.55, the teller checked this money order and confirmed that it was a good money order.  Everything went fine with this money order.  On 02/28/2013 I deposited 2 USPS money orders for 978.55 each totally 1957.10, which were checked by the teller as well confirming that the money orders were good and legit.  On 03/01/2013 one of the money orders for 978.55 was listed as returned deposit item, mind you there were 2 deposits that day of the same money order and they were both checked to be good and legit.  The other money order remained in my account.  On 03/01/2013 I deposited another money order from my client for 978.55 which was deposited into my checking account.  On 03/06/2013 two USPS money orders were taken out of my account and returned leaving me with a huge negative balance.  These are USPS money orders, they were all legitimate money orders as the tellers checked them before the deposit.  Now not only am I in the negative with my checking account, but I also have outstanding debits that will be returned and I will have to pay the fee.  This is the banks fault, as they checked the money orders and they were good and legitimate.  I want my money returned to my account immediately.  The total owed to me is $2,935.65 please feel free to contact me regarding this matter.

That sounds more like the total that you are going to end up owing the back.   I don't know where you got the absurd notion that a teller can look at a check and determine if it is good.   Doesn't matter.    What ultimately will happen is that the rules will be followed.   The rules say that if you deposit bogus checks or money orders, you are responsible for them.

I'll go out on a limb here and guess that you think it's the bank's fault because you've finally realized that you were scammed by whomever was providing you these money orders.    How much untraceable cash did you send them through Westen Union/Moneygram/MoneyPak?

The bank or USPS has no liability.

The liability rests with you.  A bank teller cannot confirm whether or not a document will be honored by the agency that it is written against.  You could be held liable for passing forged or faked documents which is why you should never fall for these cash this and send me so much and keep the rest scam.  That's what it was huh?

Know for a fact

The US Postal Service does not issue any type of Money Order over $600.00.

I know this for a fact because I needed one for $650.00 and had to buy two.  One for $600 and one for $650.00.

Sounds like something shady to me.

Possible explanation...

Since I'm not involved with this situation I can't say for sure what happened but it's possible that the following occurred.

When the teller "checks" the money order (MO), USPS will confirm that a MO by that number for that amount was sold on that date. However if the MO isn't honored (paid) when then bank forwards it then the MO is returned to the bank and they withdraw that amount from your account. Things that could cause it to not be honored is if the MO was reported as lost or stolen or if it shows as previously cashed.

Or there could have been a problem with the way the MO was made out versus how it was endorsed. The customer service area should be able to tell you why the items were returned or connect you to the department that can tell you. Hope this helps you get this straightened out.

The bank cannot guarantee the money orders are not forgeries, stolen or cancelled. You will need to pursue the party that gave you the money orders. The bank has no liability.
