Fifth Third Customers run, fast.  I don't really know where to start.  They are absolutely the worst bank ever. They are greedy. Can't get enough.    Didn't they get a bail out from the federal government.? They are nice as pie when they are getting you in debt but nasty as dirt when you hit a bump in the road.

We run a business.  We had 2 checking accounts, business credit card and a savings account. Have also paid off a loan there. I have an account with my husband which has nothing to do with the business which is with my family.  First, they hold any checks that are written to the business for 3 or 4 days.  While they are holding the money you are trying to run the business, writing checks and debiting, and then the bastards charge overdrafts.  Its not bad enough that they charge the overdraft but they charge it every day that the account is over drawn.  They also let you go way over on the debit when you are already overdrawn.

The business credit card was late and they took money out of my personal account, emptied the savings account, and the business accounts overdrawing all the accounts and depleting the savings to nothing.  That was the cushion money for the winter.  I never authorized this. They told me my name is on it and they can take it, what! No authorization and no notice.  Our overdraft fees for the past year are in the thousands.  Could have paid off a loan with that money.

Now, the harassing phone calls. They start calling on SUNDAY morning at 7:00 a.m. What do you think I can do on Sunday morning,  stupid people. They call 7 days a week, early to late.  Spineless people won't leave a message, get the machine and then hang up.  Last Sunday morning I just took the phone off the hook  Dial until your fingers bleed I'm not answering.

Going in to the bank in the morning. Took money out of my account with husband. HE went to put money in the bank we are overdrawn. Still have checks out too.  Also Monday I made a deposit and they put it in the wrong account. Put in the business and not personal.  They took half of that for the credit card.

These people have no morals at all and less brains.  We have opened business accounts at another bank and they are not getting another dime.  They want $50 to close the business accounts.  Going to one branch to take out any money that is left and going to the other branch to raise hell.

They also froze the credit card and kept our rewards points.  Several hundred dollars in points.  Stated were in collections. News to me.  Making a payment every month and making up even when we get behind. Stated if you make a payment today we will match that payment and get you back in good standing. LIE. I made $750 and they only matched $500.

They put you in the hardship program and they send you more applications for credit cards.  This is predatory lending.

I have banked at this bank for over 20 years.  Have gone through several names changes including King City,Charter, Civatas, and 5/3.  Can't wait to get away. They can talk to our attorney if they want too.

Or an employee...just want to get that out of the way...

Yes that bank is in a lawsuit but only for charging excessive overdraft fees that occurred as a result of re-sequencing debit card transaction times and commingling this with check clearing times. If you do business writing checks and spending before check deposits clear you will get fees with any bank. And if you did not choose to sign up for overdraft protection they can not by federal law/regulations allow you to continue to use the debit card once the account is depleted, it will be declined at the point of sale so you had to choose that option and can not blame the lousy bank.

And yes if they want to collect money that you owe them they will call and hassle you..I know I would call you or anyone who owes me money and is not paying on time.

I am over here in tears...literally!!! LOL. Here goes another consumer who is mad at the world because THEY cant balance a checkbook or pay their bills on time.

Heres a hint...next time instead of just NOT paying your bill, try calling the bank to let them know your situation. They have hardship programs for people who are struggling to pay their credit card and loan bills on time.

Theres a booklet that they gave u when u first opened your "business" accounts...its called the Rules and Regs. U should have read through it. Theres something called the Funds Availability Policy that outlines how they handle checks and how long they hold them.

Another thing...if you claimed that u closed your account, but still have checks out there they are going to re-open your account and you will STILL get charged fees. And they will KEEP calling you (yes, even on Sunday) until you pay them back their money. You have signed those checks and therefore you are still liable to pay. Jokes on you.

I hate to say this but...you are a crook! If someone borrowed money from you (or ran up a tab), and they never bothered to call you to let you know, wouldn't you be ticked off too? Exactly..and it will be that way no matter what bank you go to.
Good luck opening an account elsewhere...Fifth Third uses Chexstystems and will report this to other banks.

Business?

 "   We run a business. "

   That's open to debate.

How is anyone supposed to take your business seriously?   According to your report, your accounting methods approximate that of a teenager with her first checking account.

If you think this bank is the cause of your troubles, think again.    If you did all of the things you claimed at any other bank, the result would have been exactly the same.

One thing I have to admire is that your business is actually able to survive when saddled with the unecessary overhead you are generating.

"Our overdraft fees for the past year are in the thousands."

That's sloppy bookkeeping.

"What do you think I can do on Sunday morning"

Go to your second job to pay your overdrafts and credit card bill.

"They also froze the credit card and kept our rewards points."

You forfeited the rewards points when your account became delinquent.

"we are overdrawn. Still have checks out too"

But for some reason you posted this Ripoff Report even though you are the one doing the ripping off. Your credit is now in the sewer.

YOU don't know or care about the funds availability policy...but its all their fault. YOU write checks without knowing YOUR balance and run up NSF charges ...but its their fault. YOU don't make YOUR payments on time...but its their fault. YOU don't practice even the basics of financial management...but its their fault! Funny, funny! I am tempted to ask where do you sorry people come from...but instead, thanks for the laughs! I'm impressed!
