Fifth Third Bank scammed, tried to take my money, overcharges on fees Smyrna Tennessee
Stay away from this bank. I opened the account with them 2 days before my check was to be direct deposited. I got online the next day and there were weird charges on my account. It looked like I was overdrawn $3.39. Now all of a sudden I owe them over $400.00 They charged my account $175.00 over draft fee and them started charging from $8.00 to $24.00 per day.
I asked them to close my account, but they refused and said they would keep charging me until I paid all these fees. I refuse to do this. I support 5 people and they are trying to screw me. I asked them to take off the fees but they said no and they will keep charging me up to 22 days and then will send me to a collection agency. We need to do a suit so they can't keep doing this to everyone.

Darla,
More information is needed here.
"I opened the account with them 2 days before my check was to be direct deposited. I got online the next day and there were weird charges on my account."
Response: You opened your account two days before payday (and your payroll department must work quickly). You checked your online banking page either the day before payday or the day after payday when you saw weird charges. What were they?
Were they bank charges or charges from someone outside of the bank? Did you use any of the starter checks yet?
"It looked like I was overdrawn $3.39. Now all of a sudden I owe them over $400.00 They charged my account $175.00 over draft fee and them started charging from $8.00 to $24.00 per day."
Response: Does that mean that there were over $200 in charges plus the $175 in overdraft fees? I'm guessing that this was five separate fees which means that there must have been five transactions. I am also assuming that you didn't have a debit card so soon after you opened the account.
If you didn't authorize those transactions, you need to file a fraud report with the bank.
