I'm a freelance computer tech. I registered with FACG, who sent me a client for data retrieval on his home computer. I talked to the client for 20 minutes, and made an appointment with him. Then the client called me back 10 minutes before I was supposed to go over to his place, and cancelled.

I called FACG, and was told the client had to pay a forfeit fee, and I'd get my share of it. I never got the money. When I called FACG again to inquire, I was told that the person I'd been working with there had been fired.

I left multiple messages - they have an answering service, and there is NO way to actually reach someone in the company. There was also a period of several months when the only answer to phone calls was a voicemail system.

I also sent multiple email messages to them and got no response. Finally someone from FACG posted a rebuttal to a discussion in the ComputerRepair forums (a "good" company). The guy from FACG is named Linn Boyd. He said anyone who had a problem should contact him. I did so, and got negative, misleading, and hostile replies. Fianlly, after FIVE months, I was told I wouldn't get paid for the cancelled call.

I'm less concerned with the small forfeit fee, than I am with the total lack of response and professionalism shown by FACG.

My advice to any freelance techs is to STAY AWAY from FACG! And I wouldn't recommend them for end users either. You won't get good service from techs who are pissed off at not being paid...
