I purchased a 2001 Lincoln LS from FineCarsUSA in September 2009 for $6750. The car was listed as being of "Show Room Quality" and as having been "Inspected."

When I received the car it came with the check engine light and air bag lights were already on.

A car won't pass inspection in NYS with any check engine lights on. I paid an additional $1800 out of pocket to make the car legal to drive.

I did as EBay suggests and contacted the seller. Through various conversations he agreed to reimburse me the wholesale cost of the Catalytic Converter, or $350. The converter cost me over $800 at the dealership. I now realize he was stringing me along just long enough so that the listing would expire from Ebay. I never got the money, although he claims to have mailed it and received it back. I never got to leave feedback. The item had been removed before I got a chance to.

I strongly urge you to review this sellers past history before doing business with him! If you cannot inspect the vehicle in person, then go elsewhere for your automotive purchases.  There are a number of reputable dealers on ebay.  Steer clear of this one! I imagine that there are a number of past customers with whom they were  accomodating with just long enough to let the list expire (60 days) in order to keep unsatisfied customers from being able to leave feedback. I highly doubt I will ever buy a car via EBay again!

I'm considering pursuing legal action for the full amount I paid out of pocket, $2000, since he never paid the $350 we agreed upon.
